Correction: burning a flag you personally own is legal. Taking down a flag that does not belong to you and burning it, is most certainly a crime.

yes Jessica flag burning is a legal protest in the United States, however burning a flag that does not belong to you is illegal, it's public property, maybe distinguish between the two.
