I’m sure you heard about body tension – a term frequently used in gymnastics, bouldern, climbing, breakdance, calisthenics or elsewhere. But what is body tension exactly? .. and why is it important in such own-bodyweight sports, workouts and trainings? Let’s find it out what it is and check out some exercises improve your body tension!

Body tension is often also called body tightening - a static form of muscle activation in which certain muscles groups are simultaneously engaged to resist gravity. Training this “body tension” though is all about your core! Your core represents the center of your body and connects upper and lower body at the same time. Therefore having a strong core is a wonderful foundation to have a strong body tension as well.
