How to Design a Life You Love (with Adlerian Psychology)

Published 2023-05-24
How to design a meaningful life? Alfred Adler had some ideas. Adlerian Psychology proposes that each of us has to solve the three life-tasks of community, work, and love to create a life of purpose. Let me share what that looks like and what challenges to look out for in this video.

Thank you for sharing your video. I am a trainee counsellor and really like Adlerian Psychology. I like how it empowers people to make changes now rather than just focus on the cause of their issue. Thank you 🙏🏼

I recently read the book “The Courage to be Disliked”. It was my first interaction with Adlerian Psychology. I really enjoyed the read and I thereafter found your YouTube channel and it’s helping me learn more about Adler directly. Thank you

Great video. I’ve found Adler’s notion of lifestyle and Jung’s cognitive functions, when integrated, can be mutually helpful theories when it comes to understanding this in myself and others. As Adler doesn’t delve too much into the unconscious compared to Jung, blending the two theories addresses the conscious and unconscious aspects of one’s style of living and what Jung would describe as one’s personal myth.

❤ I missed leaving in Germany. It was a culture shock to return to the states. Got into a heartbreaking relationship. I had to learn how to re-event myself, and understand my value.
  • When you presented the "Question", I went like, hello isn't this the miracle question from SFBT?! Stole it, huh? That's so not nice! Because I did a short certificate course in SFBt and never once was Adler or Dreikurs mentioned. Plagiarism seems to have existed forever!

adlerian therapy/individual psychology makes perfect sense... im trying to incorporate this in my own life, but also in my practice. Do you have suggestions for treating clients? like a roadmap/case conceptualization.. i feel its a whole lot and its hard for me to implement in my roleplays with my colleagues that are also studying to become a Licsensed Professional Counselor. I don't know where to begin, and go from there to reach the end goal of having them successfully, say, develope a loving relationship with their mother and father again. Thank you! I will check out those books you recommended (I already read 1 of the 3, the courage to be disliked).. i love your videos, it is helping me understand it better, I need to take responsibility in learning this and being able to apply it in a smooth way to my client(s).

To reach a community task is an ultimate challenge, once we live in a society period focused on individuals, from the perspective of neoliberalism, driven by social media algorithms. Another challenge is related to the journey from felling inferiority to striving for superiority. I wonder how to deal with lack of power, which often makes us feel stuck. Alina, thanks a lot for this great content.
  • Very nice set of videos, this Adlerian Psychology seems logical! This you look at Perennial Psychology? As you said in one of your videos belief is stronger that trust.

Too Good 💎 Could you suggest some best books to read for gaining competence & confidence after some setbacks or hard times to keep going in ambiguity without being stuck in inaction..
