LAZY MOUNTAIN (Winter Edition) 01/21/23

Published 2023-01-22
It took most of the month of January, but I finally got my first summit of 2023; good ol' reliable - Lazy Mountain. I'll spare the specific details on the mountain itself. Instead I'll ask folks head to the original Lazy Mountain video from this past October.

I know its a repeat climb for the channel, but I wanted to showcase how the scenery changes once it gets some snow on it. 😁

Admittedly it is a bit boring to do the same summit multiple times in a year, but in the case of Lazy, I'll gladly admit that it's nice having a trail system that is less than 15min from my front door, that is travelled and packed down year round, and offers a solid 3K of elevation gain in rather short mileage. A bunch of locals use this climb as their outdoor gym, strictly for exercise.

Music selection is twofold.

First is a wonderful ambient track from dungeon synth artist OAKFATHER, based out of Seattle, Washington. Good music to be found here:

Next up, hailing from the forests of the French Alps, we have Pagan black metallers ALDAARON. The track I selected, "Arcane Mountain Cult", seems appropriate for Alaskan hiking. Show support here:

The fact that this is only 15 minutes from your door is amazing. I'd be up there 3 times a week just for the training angle to it. All I have is a park 5 minutes from my door which serves as my training ground. From the street, the park climbs up to a butte that is about 150 feet of gain, so I have to go up down up down around 6 times to get a decent workout lol. Obviously yours is way better, looks like you are in the middle of nowhere!
