  • I'd trade all other mob votes just for a utility update, faster rendering for java, inventory revamp, and further experimentation on jebs combat update
  • I feel like the entire idea of a "mob vote" only splits the player base and causes some short-term hype. At first, it was a cool and interesting idea. But now, so many people take it way too seriously and the burden on the developers has grown because they "must" implement all of the other shown features. Its a mistake Mojang has made before; they SHOULD NOT show anything unless it will 100% be implemented into the game, this includes mob votes or other votes.

To be honest they should add 3 votes per year -passive mobs -hostile mobs -biome votes

I think the worst part about the mob vote is the execution. The Phantom could’ve been a terrifying creature that forced players to sleep but they made it annoying and easy to get around. The Glow Squid could’ve added a new effect to the game and made it dangerous to go near and could’ve added dynamic lighting as well. I just really hope they don’t mess up the Sniffer.

I feel like the reason they're so vague with the options is because they're actually more concepts that they have, the votes decide which ones to develop further. Do agree with you on the losers being forgotten forever though, I've made the comparison before that when they say the losers "go to the ideas library" it feels increasingly like parents telling their kids that their pet "went off to a farm" rather than having to explain that they had to be put down
  • To be honest, I kinda disagree on the very premise of a mob vote itself. A mob should be added because it furthers the gameplay, not because it won a vote. That goes for every feature in my opinion.

I do prefer the biome votes as it was a bundle of features instead of just one mob. As of now, I’d rather they focus on previous out-voted content rather than having more votes that add to the list of shelved features. However, with the Mangroves being okay and fireflies being removed I don’t know if Mojang would do them justice.

I'm hoping the new update is called "Relics of The Past" and in addition to archeology it also adds in all the forgotten mobs and biomes
  • In the introduction video, the phantom looked like a genuinely cool concept, so obviously the public voted for it. The problem was that Mojang fumbled hard on the execution.
  • with the camels that are gonna be added, i think it would fit very well if they were to update the deserts
  • @Fishpasta4
My main issue this year was how unevenly stacked the mobs themselves were. 1. Rascal - a sort of fun hide and seek mini-game that could probably be farmed if it didn't only give sub-optimal rewards. 2. Tuff Golem - Portable Item Frame. 3. Sniffer - mob that gives new plants, meaning new building blocks for the thousands of builder Streamers/YouTubers out there. Ultimately I'm not surprised by the outcome this years vote.
  • I feel that they should do a rehash vote at this point, because as you stated a bunch of these mobs have interesting concepts. But they were never brought up again.
  • @BonziBUDDY
I was just thinking about how there are pretty much no hostile mobs in the votes after 1.13. Kind of a shame that we aren't getting any new and interesting monsters to fight in these votes, just passive mobs that have very niche uses.
  • @PoggersAndy
I honestly hope the bring back the biome vote because it was 100% the best type of vote.
  • @DarkPaino
Ilmango (from Scicraft and many other amazing series) made a tweet saying that he would be more interested on voting a block instead of a mob. Even if he said it because he's a specialist on making farms, I think he has a point
  • @oGlacier
Yes I definitely agree with the point of how mojang has taken a more “passive” liking with mobs, the main reason why i voted iceologer in 2020 was because it would be a new hostile mob that could drop a weapon or enchant. The mob we vote on has to get our attention. How often to players go out of their way to use allays? Some people even forget allays were a thing because of how they were implemented
  • @InfamousJRP
I feel like Minecraft should do a biome update, where they would add all the yet to be added updates like the desert, savanna, and badlands.
  • @Blandy8521
I think the main issue with the mob vote is we don't get enough information about the mobs. For me I went with the sniffer because it most info about it told to us. With the rascal I don't think I'd enjoy looking for it and there doesn't seem to be a way to track which one you've encountered. So it would be possible to find 3 different ones and not getting anything while with the Golem I wouldn't want my item display to move
  • @Scthes
this guy just speaks facts while occasionally violating the glowsquid
