Because of the way human beings develop, people only truly gain the capacity for critical, independent thought when they're 25 years-old. Unfortunately, by the time people reach this age, their minds are so full of nonsense that they could literally spend the rest of their lives sifting through the concepts, beliefs, and ideas that were functionally put there without their consent. And -- if you want to be an actual individual -- this is precisely what you have to do. In this episode, I'll discuss what this process looks like and why it is indispensable to becoming yourself.

One of the better aspects of getting older.... experience. Men, protect your mind and body. Gotta eliminate the booze and chemicals... trust me. The clarity is important... and believe it or not you'll find some peace and health. Men, be safe!

In order to control my mind I first needed to control my body ... Practicing the discipline of fasting was of great help to me in controlling my mind. I'm 84, in good health, exercise, and meditate daily. Among other activities, I interact socially, travel, ski, golf, and fish ... I love life, but I do not fear death.
  • Orion has what many psychologists don’t have. Wisdom, which is what every psychologist should have.

"Empty your mind, be formless shapeless. Like Water; Absorb what is useful, discard what is useless and add what is essentially your own"- Bruce Lee This message of waking up, fulling embracing oneself as an individual, realizing not everything you were taught or own is beneficial is a powerful motivation for Self development.
  • What I find interesting is this: When you work on yourself and grow, you become happier, more balanced and more successful, because you stop self-sabotaging yourself. At the same time, it get’s more difficult to find a partner, as most people don’t develop and you can’t be anymore with someone who hasn’t integrated and healed his/her shadows and traumas. Anyone else who experiences this?
  • As a 69 y/o Vietnam vet, my entire adult life has been questioning dogma and planted beliefs. Ultimately, I have examined my workings to the point of separating myself from many folks and groups that I would have been naturally akin to. A bit lonely at times, but far more calm and grateful.

I was lucky to start this process when I was 23. Now 33. It takes a while to get things ironed out once you see the light. Remember an epiphany doesn't mean lasting change, it takes a daily practice and a resolve to not forget what you learned or let yourself slip back into old ways of thinking and being. Get to work, start today. Thank you Professa

Love it. Started this process in my mid 40s without knowing it and regret not doing it earlier. Stopped watching news 10 years ago. Stopped reading eclectic alternative news a few years ago. Almost all of it is a distraction and BS, not because of some conspiracy, but because of people write it, or know better than you, or are mediocre at their jobs and under a deadline, or increasingly, because it’s just software writing the words. Spend your time on your family and friends, on your career, your hobbies, staying fit and healthy, learning new skills and improving old ones, building a nest egg, learning from folks like this and others to better understand yourself. Your decisions will almost entirely determine the life you lead.

"declutter the mind of bullshit", gonna be my one of my top 3 goals for the rest of 2024, thanks again Orion for another gem!

I’m amazed how different I am as a man in my 40s than I was in my 20s. I’m successful, established, reliable, dependable, honest (mostly), and a role model and mentor to my children. I got here by learning a lot of hard lessons… Credit at one point in the 400s, my first wife leaving, overcoming addictions, cutting out the nonsense, stoping drinking, stopping porn… A ton of bad decisions hid in the back of my closet. But I’m a man, I’m here, and I’m proud.

I totally went through this process, I thought I was supposed to be who I was, and boy did my bad marriage thought had taught me so much different. As soon as I realized my worth, sought metal health I started to change to what I knew what I was supposed be, Then started reading Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, and this was the catalyst, if felt like I lifted Mjolnir, and that I knew everything needed it to do as man. I had to let go of that marriage, but now I feel powerful within.

So true. That's why channels like this are so important. You can be your own unique person and not just blindly follow what you've been taught.
  • @eSKAone-
Exactly. I'm 40 years old and live in the center of beautiful Heidelberg Germany. I inhabit a flat with 2 students, to save money. I can walk to work (ICU nurse), but I have an old used bike for less then 200 bucks. I don't need to travel. Heidelberg is paradise. No car, no kids. I only work part time so I have enough money for my hobbies: Bouldering, Running, Gaming on Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (if our house burns down, I can't lose those games, I own them in the cloud). Life is beautiful nowadays, why would I waste it at work. I only buy cloths when I really need them, mostly cheap. You can eat healthy for 5 bucks a day (coffee included). It's easy: stick to things that have only 1 ingredient, but no isolates like sugars and oils (you can throw them together obviously for a meal) I consider whole grain pasta to be healthy, but you should have them split up in to maximum 2 meals a day. Other than that I eat oats, nuts and vegetables. Only drink water, coffee, and tea without additives. If you're vegan have your vit.B12 and a good source of omega-3 fatty acids (chia seeds, walnuts), maybe vit.D if you're a nightshift worker or not out in the sun much, and you're good. Once in a while if you have an easier day try to eat nothing for that day. I'm 40 years old, athletic, everyone thinks I'm much younger. Take good care of your bodies folks 💟🌌☮️

At 37 everything I knew was useless and I let it go. Universal Truth and experience since.

One of the best videos on YT and this could help a lot of people around the world. I really appreciate more self improvement content like this.
  • @chrism6764
Cometh the hour, cometh the video! I'm at the "where am I going, how did I get here?" time in my life. Maybe a bit late at 39 but I'm here. This was REALLY useful.

At 65 I could not agree more. And so many mistakes made on false ideas. And I see it still happening.
  • @alanwhite-zv5ii
I am 47. I so relate to the hoarder concept. The past 2 years I have been trying to figure out WHY about everything in my life. This idea made something click in my brain and I'm getting closer to figuring it out. THANK YOU
