The only way Marner gets moved is a sign and trade. Any team with the cap space is rebuilding and wouldn't want to rent a player for a year to see them walk in FA, and any team good enough to need him would almost certainly get worse from the cap they'd need to shift to fit him in. So Vegas will do some cap shit-housery and get him at the deadline.

The time for the Leafs to move off from Marner was before his No Move Clause kicked in. Toronto is probably going to run it all back again for another year and once again see if a new coach changes things. With Shanahan still running things I wouldn't be surprised if Marner gets an extension.

How catastrophic would it be to let both Narner and Tavares walk? Pretty sure JT would re-sign for A LOT less and Tor would have close to 20 mil in cap to play with. If theres no faith in Marner, the space seemd like the best option to fill holes
