What’s poppin, Kaiju? It’s me MT and welcome back to the Heavy Spoilers Show! And I hope y’all like humans dealing with dinosaur trauma because this is a breakdown of the Godzilla movie from 2014…a whole decade ago! Can you believe that? That’s the year I graduated college and began my life of crippling debt! Good times. But anyways, let’s make like Godzilla and take a big ole bite into this monster of a breakdown, shall we? (Possibly retool)

Anyways, the Godzilla opens up with what appears to be an early cave wall depicting of Godzilla himself…as this creature was drawn with Godzilla’s scaly back. Then immediately following this is ancient imagery of what appears to be a group of Christian men doing some sort of cermony of the back of a giant fish.

I remember when this movie came out so many people were complaining that there was not enough Godzilla in it. I loved it and liked that the director did not show him off too much. But enough to keep us off our toes when we hear that iconic roar. The cast was great and utilized very well in this movie cuz often in monster movies the human cast can be meh.

I feel the MUTOs are extremely underrated kaiju I love there designs and status of a predator to Godzilla and his species makes them so interesting

I do love this film. There are some things I have issues with, like killing Bryan Cranston's character off in the first 20 minutes, how overly dark a lot of the film was, and wanting Godzilla to have a little more screen time. However scenes like that one when the male Muto is rampaging at the airport in Honolulu and everyone inside the airport running around screaming and shouting, then Godzilla's monumental foot comes down in front of the window and all the screaming stops. Gives me chills every time.

As a relatively observant nerd, I really enjoy seeing a spotlight shine on all the easter eggs, tie-ins & historical references in these shows & movies (especially the ones I may have missed)! I am also so glad the younger generation has kept alive & reinvented this fascinating universe that I fell in love with as a kid. Keep up the good work!🍻
