Here's why the Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE is an underrated sports car. The 6th Generation of the Camaro has been somewhat of a lackluster performance of late. The global climate has hit the Camaro hard and sales have suffered. That does take away from the fact that the Camaro SS 1LE is an awesome car

Chevrolet created the 1LE package in the Camaro has a handling package to give it a sportier feel and a visual presence. The 1LE package adds unique looking wheels, aggressive front splitter and rear spoiler, and of course, the upgraded suspension pieces. Overall the 1LE package is an easy sell for anyone looking for a Camaro and if I was in the market, I would definitely spec this option.

This Camaro SS 1LE i drove had a 6 speed manual transmission and Chevrolet is one of the few companies that still offers a manual transmission in their sports cars. Its a great unit, no complains. Chevrolet has added the option for those interested in the 1LE to spec the 10 speed automatic, something that wasnt available until now.

Overall the Camaro SS 1LE is a awesome all around car. The visibility complaints out there shouldnt deter interest in this car, because its not a big deal. It does most things well, the only shortfall is it feels a little ordinary when you're just driving it around town, which for some is a good thing.

Thanks for watching this video of the Camaro SS 1LE!

  • Says the car isn't special...smiles ear to ear every time he gets on it. Says it handles rough roads better than his much more expensive GT350. repeats it just isn't special. Says the engine isn't very special..smiles and gets excited on a straight road. I think someone is in denial😎 Still enjoyed your review and your honesty. Very refreshing. Earned a sub
  • Most underrated car of this generation. This car drives so much better than the bmw m2 or m4s and they get all the praise. I got my 2ss 1le for 43k in June. Absolute steal. I think it’s better the car is unknown. It’ll appreciate like crazy when people realize this one slipped past their noses. Great review! Good editing and entertaining, watch some of my driving videos!

I love this car. So clean

The reason why muscle cars don't have over the top fancy interiors is because you're mostly focused on looking straight ahead, the money is spent on more important things such as performance oriented things.
  • @BigClaunch
Nice Quality video!! The SS1le is the perfect blend of muscle and sports car.
  • Awesome video, I’ve owned my 2018 ss1 1LE for 2 years now. Every winter the car is properly stored and covered. I never knew that the park brake would automatically release in transition. Love your video. I would like to offer you to review my vehicle!

I drive my 2017 Camaro SS and honestly i don't even care if it doesn't have all of does features, the drive matters more to me, i love the sound and the power. U can't compare it to other cars because every car is unique, but honestly i love everything about the Camaro SS 2017, it's fast strong and sexy. I think it looks way better the a charger and challenger. I think it give u the sporty look and the muscle feel.

My first affordable dream car was a 93' Fox Body LX Mustang with around 350 whp. That car was everything to me. It was quick and gnarly. The sound was beautiful. And the sleek cocky sleeper look with the 5 bolt/5 spoke 17" cobra alloy wheels. The body was in perfect condition with the british racing green paint ant black limo tinted windows. The frame had been solidified with a square steel frame to prevent body twisting and the interior was as clean as a weasel with a crazy sound system with the woofer secured in the trunk. This Mustang was my dream car until 2017, while as I was working in a GMC/Chevy dealership and I had the chance to rethink and renew my love and have relationship with Camaro's. And it only took me one drive test on a calm and straight highway during a tuesday night to convince me that I had been so wrong about sports cars for so many years. If you can put your hands down a 2017-2018 Camaro 1SS 1LE, just buy it and you'll thank me later !!!

I bought a 2021 2SS 1LE and you are right on so many different things here. Really a ton of great info in this video man. The only thing I have to critique is basically with you comparing it to a GT350. It's not a fair comparison at all. A 1LE should be compared to a PP2 Mustang GT, (when they existed), or now the Mach 1... which Motortrend did a comparison on and the 1LE beat the Mach 1 in every performance related category. While it may not feel "as special" as the GT350 you drove, it really shouldn't.... they aren't the same. My previous car was a 2018 PP1 Mustang GT and the 1LE is superior to it basically in every way. As I said, a ton of great information in here.... I just think you saying this thing doesn't "as special as a GT350" does this car any justice. They aren't comparable. I will say though, the 1LE is absolutely a SPECIAL car and I have no regrets about it. Love the thing so much, the capabilities are amazing for the money and it is absolutely an underrated car.
  • I love mine. 2021 2SS 1LE. Amazing car. I didn't even know I wanted it. I went to look at a C8, was curious why the wheels and brakes were spec'd like that on a couple of Camaros at the dealership on the show room floor.... I kind of thought it was a bunch of show and thought, no way... then I test drove a 6spd, the electronic rear end blew my mind (still amazes me!), and I was sold. I bought the A10. Amazing car.

My Twin car (: I have a 2022 SS 1LE 6MT (Just ordered an AWE Track Axle Back exhaust SOO HYPE) BUT.... I had an order for a charger widebody scat pack that was 56k and got my 1SS 1LE for 46k. I will say, I am 10000 percent glad I went with the camaro. I fell in love with it, even only 1SS vs 2SS I still feel so much more bang for buck. The recaro seats / heads up display / magnetic ride / E-diff / 6 speed.... Better performance you name it all around it was better. The interior of the charger looked like a 2012 dodge ram the more I looked at it. The absolute only reason I would go back and change my mind is having the 4 doors as I now have a daughter otherwise CAMARO FTW

Finally an honest review about the visibility!

Nice review, having just picked up an SS 1. Interesting to see all the add Ons that make it a 1LE. I've had 5 Mustang Gt's with the P/P and an EcoBoost Mustang with the performance pack. I haven't had any issues with the seating, or all-around field of vision with my Camaro. I think the one car that I've own was a 370Z that on more than one occasion the blind spot on the right rear was truly blind. No matter where the mirror was adjusted too. So far, no issues with my Camaro. I noticed the road gup on the lower panel on your car, and even with the smaller rims on my car. I get the same thing. It must be a trip to go from the 350 Mustang then back to a 1LE. With the RPM rev's you can pull with the 350. I just couldn't get behind the game boy display on the new Mustang. Something in my Opinion was too over the top. No choice in a 2016 type display. This is my first Camaro that I figured I could add-on upgrades as needed, as time goes on. I waited to long for a 1LE that I could have ordered. THANKS for the walk around on your ride.
  • @cardo1111
Excellent review, very comprehensive and well filmed. These Gen 6 iterations are great cars that were underrated. We can only hope its legacy in automotive history is preserved and it doesn't return as a 4-door electric crossover.
  • @clintonlunn4357
You don't have issues with visibility because you know how to drive. I love when folks are interested in Camaros, but a lot of them aren't drivers so they complain about it. I really hated the 2019 at first, bur now I wonder if it will be collectable in the future as a "one year only" design. Thanks for the video...good stuff
  • Have a 2022 Rapid Blue and I love it. Have had a Hellcat, Scatpack and RT Mopars and this drives so much better especially if you have Magnetic ride. It's hard to feel difference unless you drive non magnetic ride. Before this I had a 6 cylinder RS, non magnetic ride. I daily drove that as well as the 1LE and can't definitely feel suspension difference.
  • "how did you do it when blind spot monitoring wasn't around" , So true... the endless reliance on modern technology in driving is ridiculous.. No one can park without a backup camera nowadays lol
