His refusal to kill the person who killed his daughter isn't self-righteousness, it's being the better person. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

The first doctor's (Hartnell) companion was his granddaughter not sure if you ever met any other family members in old Who though

You're saying that the showrunner at this time (RTD) wanted to avoid the old lore, but he uses and references it more than anyone since, Moffat especially.
  • I think he just did the "I never would" to end the war and no matter if we agree or not with the statement of the "best of humanity" it was to keep them from continuing the war by setting a standard for what they should strive to be and not keep fighting themselves

Tbh, there isn’t actually much to do with the Time Lords in terms of stories. All the plot lines involving them in classic who was “Doctor goes back to Gallifrey, gets in trouble, proves his innocence/fixes mistakes, leaves.” However, I am pretty desperate for Romana and the Rani to return (two time lords in the classic series), that would be great.

Yeah, I always thought of Jenny as a clone, as well.

"Why not?, seems fair to me", lol wow, seriously you would?, even after he says "i never would", showing the best of mankind, you still say you probably would, very unhealthy mind you got there lol

The doctor had like 13 children lol but there’s not really anything specific in the classic series or the revival series, only in expanded media like books, comics and audios and it’s up to people themselves to decide whether they’re canon or not.

13:30 I understand the sentiment. But that's one reason we believe in laws and punishment, because an eye for an eye never ends. Someone kills your family member, then you get revenge by killing them. Then someone else in their family wants revenge on you. At least that's the idea. But I do agree with you in the comments, as I'm seeing people really go after you on this. The Doctor's whole self righteousness complex gets a lot of people killed all the time, and there's actually a good scene on this in seasons down the line. People want to ignore it and put the doctor on this moral high ground as if he's perfect and every decision he does is right. Edit: Oh I didn't realize you were up to 7x7 or whatever on Patreon, so I was referring to the scene in a Town Called Mercy

Hey guys! Just want to be clear at 13:09 what I meant to say was that the death penalty would be alright after due process and a fair trial. I'm not advocating for vigilante justice nor am I mentally ill.
  • After this point series 4 picks up a lot more! Of course you already know since u hav already warchd all of it im sure. Hav u been checkin out any classic who clips on youtube? Seeing how some of the monsters were done back in the day?
  • The Cybermen and the Daleks are the classic go-to villains of Doctor Who. I completely agree they sometimes get overused, but they are there to represent our fears and insecurities with politics. The Daleks represent the fears of extremism in racial purity brought about by the end of WWII. They’re based on the infamous leaders of Germany during that war. The Cybermen however are a Cold War product. They represent extremism in equality and uniformity and were based on Britain’s perception of the communist nations during the 60’s. They keep coming back because these are modern fears we have today!

I don't think there is such a thing as a British accent, and there are loads of accents in England.
