THOR 5 ANNOUNCEMENT

It's crazy how Loki has overshadowed Thor these passed few years.

The problem with Love & Thunder was not (just) the comedy. It was the utter lack of the understanding of story mechanics. How the story ended had no relation to how it started. You can't just spout "... a story about self-discovery..." without explaining what about self needed to be discovered. It started with the drive for "family" via The Guardians. It became about his love for Jane. And it ended with the concept of family, but no real correlation to what happened along the way. Bad.

As a fan of Norse Mythology, i am highly hella excited about this. I really want a serious Thor film this time around.

I just want to see a Thor and Loki reunion!! Thor needs to see how far his brother has come and just be so proud of him. I want to see the brotherly bond, give us that Marvel 🙏🏼

hemsworth said he became a parody of himself in thor 4 and didn't like that. they went from thor 2 dark world, taking things too seriously, to thor 3, less seriously & more successful, then thought "oh, you want more of that?" then went overboard in thor 4.

I'm proud of Chris Hemsworth taking accountability for the backlash instead of attacking the fans, but I hope he and Marvel Studios aren't getting the wrong impression. Thor can have humor. He's been around people like Jane and Tony Stark. It makes sense that he's developed a sense of humor. The problem was that they overly relied on humor to the point that it never felt like the stakes were high or even real. It was hard for me to connect with Thor4 or stay invested in the threat of Gorr because it didn't feel like there was any threat since Thor was making jokes all the time. Even when Gorr stole Stormbreaker, the one thing he needed for his god eradication plan, Thor was on earth fighting a vending machine and arguing with Jane. Not at all tense or even concerned. That said, I don't think it would tonally consistent if they suddenly made Thor too serious. It would feel try hard. There can be a balance. Tbh, the biggest crimes were minimizing Jane Foster's battle with cancer, killing her off before she could get her own trilogy and become an Avenger, and wasting Christian Bale. I dunno if Natalie Portman wanted to stick to just one more film and be done, but I think it was wasted potential killing her off so soon. We could have had an emotionally griping story of Jane's battle with cancer for a Mighty Thor trilogy, ending with a heroic death in one of the Avengers films. But nah, we just got Jane trying catch phrases all the time. Hopefully the next films are much better.

Taika Waititi was a good indie guy who started believing his own hype. Don't give him any more large budget movies

Thor deserves at least 3 "Wakanda entrance" scenes in this film.

It's kinda funny to hear Chris Hemsworth actually say this because I once saw a "Behind the Scenes" montage from Thor: Love and Thunder that showed Hemsworth on set, SO excited, acting like a kid in a candy store, saying to Taika Waititi... "Ooooh, let's try this! It'll be awesome!" and "Hey, why don't we...?" with his eyes wide open like all of his ideas were the best ideas EVER, and Taika is standing there, watching him, with an awkward smile, slowly nodding his head, while he's actually thinking "Shit... I've created a monster." And you just know that Hemsworth got all those ideas put into the movie, because by this time, Waititi had basically lost all directorial control. And here, Hemsworth basically admits to it all!

Thor 1 has always been one of the most underrated Marvel movies imo. That tone was great. It had some humor but also had the grand, epic vibe befitting a god

A line Don Cheadle said in Ocean’s 13: “You don’t run the same gag twice. You do the next gag.” Something Taika Waititi should have taken note of for Love and Thunder. I blame him. He became so full of himself haha especially with all his directing gigs with Disney. Such as Mandalorian

I love Taika but, I didn't like his take on Thor, I enjoyed Ragnarok much more than love and thunder, TL&T was way too goofy, and they ruined a really cool villain

The issue with Love and Thunder was this... they tried to stuff way too much into one movie. You have the Jane Thor story arc coupled with the Gorr story arc. If they were just going to go the Jane Thor route, that would have been fine. However... to try and couple that with telling Gorr's story was way too much and the movie suffered severely for it imo. Gorr's story alone could easily be two movies. There was sooo much that took place in the comics during that arc that it was insane. I mean in the comics there were three different Thor's (past, present, and future), future Thor's granddaughters, and Galactus. That was an epic read. The Jane Thor arc... not so much, but it was ok nonetheless (comic version). The Jane Thor arc should have been one movie, and the Gorr arc two movies (minimum). They could have kept the humor for both movies but just have a way darker tone during Gorr's arc. Them trying to stuff both arcs into one was a huge disservice to both.

1:53 Ragnarok arguably the best MCU movie. At least top 3. Part of the reason Thor 4 was so disappointing was how great 3 was.
