How I stay "skinny"

Life is too short to not enjoy good food and love yourself. Corny, I know, but I mourn for my younger self for all the wasted years of being so insecure about my weight. Seriously though, you're beautiful.

tbh i’ve noticed that the idea of “cultural appropriation” is a western ideal. Most countries i’ve visited encourage dressing like them. They see it as a honor

As someone from the Caribbean, there is no such thing as braids or dreadlocks being ‘owned’ by a group of people. If you go to any of the islands, you will see braids on all different types of people. Sharing traditions should be a good thing, sharing cultures should be a good thing. What makes the sharing of cultures so beautiful, is the equality proven. It shows how beautiful our world can truly be if we just put our differences aside and learn from each other, a world without racism. Cultures are not owned, but shared. Thanks for reading ❤️.

As a black person born in Brooklyn And raised between New York and the West Indies I am very sad that you felt the need to apologize for your braids 😩 you were a kid trying a style I’m sure you genuinely thought was cool and interesting 😊 that is not appropriating & you don’t have to apologize 😩 I’m glad you had the hairstyle in & I hope you enjoyed it while it was it in. Your braids are beautiful. Wearing braids is not cultural appropriation. While box braids are traditionally associated with black women, I as a black woman love to see our culture being CELEBRATED all over the world. Black women experience discrimination for wearing their braids and this is a problem we have been fighting to stop. We just want to be able to wear our hair without discrimination, and I think as a community we want everyone to be able to enjoy the beauty of black culture.

I realised that life is not about being skinny or fat. It's about having enough good & functional health to enjoy the best this world can offer us and will continue to offer.

As a black South African- I can tell you that wasn’t appropriation, that was appreciation. Shoutout to your parents for getting you into the culture

The braids look lovely. All cultures borrow from each other and have braid- like hairdos.

As a black women I personally enjoy when other cultures acknowledge our culture and braids to me aren’t a culture appropriation but a cultural celebration.

As an African my mom grew up around the coastal area of East Africa where she loved braiding European and other foreign peoples hair and adding sea shells as decoration! It’s sad that you have to apologize for a harmless and innocent thing I find that braids should be loved by everyone other than when it is used in a rude way and not appreciated. You looked gorgeous and I absolutely loved the confidence I got when I was younger after getting my hair braided I’m glad that at-least everyone got to feel that joy❤️

Braids don't belong to anyone, vikings had braids, Africans had braids, Asians had braids. Braiding your hair is just a way to put your hair together, it doesn't matter how thin it is or plenty it is. A braid is a braid whether it's Rapunzel style or cornrows 😂

Honestly as a black person I love ppl who are interested in our culture food or tradition and I don't know if other black ppl can agree with me
