We didn't realize how lucky we were to have the kind of music we had in the 1970s.

We just laid my brother to rest yesterday. Eleven years older than me. I grew up in his record collection, and Elton.John was one of his favorites. He took me to my first concert in 1982, and it was Elton. This song really fit my brother, and I chose it as the last song to play at his service. Let me tell you....he was well loved by many, and the room was full. There literally wasn't a dry eye in the room when this song was over. Thank you for everything Mark. I'll never forget you.

When are you gonna come down? When are you going to land? I should have stayed on the farm I should have listened to my old man You know you can't hold me forever I didn't sign up with you I'm not a present for your friends to open This boy's too young to be singing, the blues So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough Back to the howling old owl in the woods Hunting the horny back toad Oh I've finally decided my future lies Beyond the yellow brick road What do you think you'll do then? I bet that'll shoot down your plane It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics To set you on your feet again Maybe you'll get a replacement There's plenty like me to be found Mongrels who ain't got a penny Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough Back to the howling old owl in the woods Hunting the horny back toad Oh I've finally decided my future lies Beyond the yellow brick road

I don’t hear many people coming close to this level of songwriting and performance in the studio. He knew he was making history and leaned into it .

I was just thinking how lucky my generation is to have witnessed this music when it came out. I really hope the younger generations will discover all the great music from the 60's-70's-80's❤
  • They played this song for my graduation on full blast as everybody was leaving ngl I almost bawled my eyes out in my car

Went to see Avatar last night and they had an ad for Ant Man. I was singing at the top of my lungs and Yellow Brick Road has been in my head constantly since. 😂🙂

  • "So what will it be, Ant-Man?". I'm so glad the new trailer re-sparked this song, it's always been one of my favorites.
  • One of the greatest songs ever written and sung, very emotional
  • I sobered up a couple yrs ago,n life got twisted.I put five yrs in a local charity office, witch saved my life.I met a beauty I call shorty.been walking a straight line since then.I was hit hiking down a road n this song echoed in my thoughts. L.o.l.I thank the beauties I see daily.
  • How appropriate this was to be played as his last song on his last tour ever. We love you Sir Elton John.
