I hope you find this to be a neat example of different ways to solve the same problem.

If you'd like to support creating more things like this, please consider joining my Patreon at www.patreon.com/stuffmadehere. I'll be doing a behind the scenes directors commentary going into the oodles of details that didn't make this video on there soon! There's also an awesome discord. Big thanks to all the existing patrons who make it possible to make ridiculous things like this!

''It has limitations, but basically, it can do anything''. Spoken like a true engineer
-
"I convinced myself that what I really needed was more complexity. It turns out, I did not." -engineers everywhere forever
-
I like how this is basically a 30 minute commercial for a product none of us could ever possibly own.
-
The concept of "it works, but it's not complicated enough" is what makes this channel great
-
He gets a huge and impressive waterjet, and the first video he uses it for, he uses it to sharpen a pencil. What a legend.
-
“Sir do you mind explaining why you were doing 100 in a school zone?” “I was sharpening my pencil, officer.”
-
The spinny razor one not cutting the graphite is actually really cool because you'll waste less pencil for each pencil
-
I don't even know this guy, but his wife seems like such a perfect match for him. She's so supportive of all of his crazy ideas. No matter what he comes up with, she's like "I love it" 😂
-
Imagine if all the engineering YouTubers made a pencil sharpener that was focused around what they normally do.
-
EVERYONE WAKE UP HE POSTED
-
The Water Jet Pencil Sharpener is such an egregious over use of precision instruments to perform a mundane task you've got to love it!
-
The spinning xacto not cutting the graphite is a really neat demonstration of the differing hardness between the wood and graphite. Low key my favorite part of the video.
-
Your wife rated and reviewed all of your inventions with much less sarcasm and snark than usual. It was adorable and gives some serious relationship goals. Awesome job with the content, as usual.
-
Technological wonder: 8/10 Overall comedic value: 8/10 Contagious enthusiasm: 9/10 Your wife's involvement: 10/10

With the explosive pencil sharpener instead of moving the pencil with the explosive force you could move a steel, cone shaped, wedge that carves the tip. Then you could have a shoulder that limits how far the cone goes on the pencil. Really great video like all of them. Thank you so much for what you do

I have an amazing idea for a pencil sharpener, A razor blade that stays stationary in a solid mount with a hole in it. As you spin the pencil around the razor shaves wood off the pencil slowly and soon you have a perfect tip.

This was fantastic

I usually think sharpening pencils with knives is an unnecessary way to accidentally cut yourself, now I marvel at how safe that method is.

You're the antithesis to "simplicity is key". And I'm here for it
