An Interview With Melanie Kohn, The Voice Of Lucy in PEANUTS - Cynical Adult Watches Cartoons

Publicado 2024-05-24
Melanie Kohn was the voice of Lucy from 1974-77, in five TV specials and a movie. I got to speak to Melanie about her experience recording with Bill Melendez, what qualities they looked for in a fussbudget, and more. Find where Melanie will be appearing at www.facebook.com/Melaniejkohn or www.instagram.com/kohnmelanie/

This interview took place at Retro Emporium in Kent, Washington, your one-stop retro shop. Thanks to Anne and Greg Smith for putting this event together and letting me take advantage of their hard work! Follow Retro Emporium at www.facebook.com/retroemporiumKent

This interview also couldn’t have happened without the help of my brother in weirdness Chris Mowrer. Maybe I’ll show you the special tripod head he helped me cobble together…

Peanuts In A Nutshell is an ongoing study of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts, with a focus on the animated specials and movies.

This is awesome. Lucy was always my favorite Peanut character when I was a kid. 😊
  • @Fradycatcartoons
Fun video. I always love seeing the people behind the voices of my favorite cartoon characters.

  • I am a huge Peanuts fan so it has been my mission to gain as much information about the incredible world of Peanuts. So for a while was friends with Jerry Granelli, I travelled to Sebestapol to see the world of Charles Schulz and I have been talking to Ms Jean Schulz. I find it very important to keep Peanuts alive because they are a big piece of history that we are slowly loosing.

You can actually MEET Lucy herself in several theme parks!
  • You might as well be a celebrity at this point. Any possibility of a Cam Clarke interview? After all, he wasn't the first voice of Snoopy, but he voiced him the longest
  • If I can make animated shows and movies, they would be very deeply complicated and controversial stories below the surface well being very bouncy bright and happy on the surface. I want to make unlikable protagonists who have to fight to be who they are even if people aren't happy with what they are I want to make realistic protagonist that you have to relate to but through doing things with you find that they have likeable qualities
  • Peppy patty was voice by a boy 😮 well Ok Sir. Oh my bad not sir. Lol..
  • If you want to collaborate with another YouTuber, I know of the perfect one: a channel called "@ItsTheGooseItsTheGoose ", whose whole channel is mostly about cartoons, and mostly obscure ones at that, with a few exceptions, including Charlie Brown. In fact, one of his most recent videos was about the special "Why Charlie Brown, Why?", and he also reviewed "Snoopy Come Home "
