that early 00's rap is the perfect blend of new school and old school

Early 2000's is my favorite. Shady, Aftermath, G-Unit, Ruff Ryders, Roc-a-fella & all the artists outside of those labels. That era's music is timeless. Also, the baggy clothes, the durags & the throwback jerseys were cool as shit at the time. Rappers weren't rocking high-end fashion. It was easy to dress like your favorite rapper back then & hip-hop culture was everywhere. Basketball players were rocking super baggy clothes because of hip-hop
  • Part of why I don't really care about 21st century hip hop is because it lacks something that they are complaining about. That is the 2 and 4 on the snare with a syncopated kick. I used to think that I was a hip hop head until I realized that I'm a funk head and that I never really cared for hip hop to begin with. This is why I love boom bap, g-funk, and disco rap but can't really get into crunk or trap, because the prior are funky and the latter aren't. But then you might also ask, if you don't like hip hop, why do you listen to Nas or Dre or Rakim? It's because I see 80s and 90s hip hop less as a new genre and more as a continuation of funk music. Same with house music, how can I say I don't like house and listen to C+C Music Factory in the same breath. It's because 80s and 90s house is more of a continuation of disco and less of a new genre, once house started to have it's own identity that's devoid of disco by the mid 2000s, I stopped listening to house.
