I have a main coon Tabby mix & he is so smart & sweet & lovable. He is very protective over his momma. I think he has separation anxiety. He is a momma's boy. He follows me when I'm home & he lets me know when he is hungry or wants treats. I wouldn't trade him for anything. He is a very sweet lovable boy. Yes he is also good with children & he is not hateful he is a big baby. Lol

I totally agree. 15 years ago we rescued a little kitten that turned out to be a main coon. He has owned this house ever since.

I loved my Bud. Had 12 great years with him. He passed away this morning. He was the first Maine Coon and the last cat I'll have at my age.

My mom's Maine Coon lived to be almost 20 years old! He was so sweet, gentle, and curious

Our 24lb. Maine Coon was the sweetest, gentlest, klutzy cat we ever had. We had to move all the furniture against the walls of our home so she wouldn't tip it over when she was playing. Her coat was easy to care for - she loved being vacuumed with the upholstery attachment! She went through a 50lb. bag of cat food every week. When she went for her 3am gallop through the house it sounded like a herd of elephants stampeding down the hallway. Had her for 18 years, lost her to heart failure.

I had one named Hershey because his hair looked like it was brown in the sunlight instead of black. He was 34 inches long from head to the tip of his tail, and weighed almost thirty pounds. Best cat ever.

I've had all different breeds and mixes of cats...I got a Maine Coon 5 yrs ago...I will never get another breed of cat...they're the gentle giant and they're very smart but they will get into trouble if they are not getting the attention they need/want...and they're climbers...my baby always sits or lays at the highest point in the house...I love my Maine Coon ❤❤❤

I convinced my wife to get Saint Bernards years ago We have 3 now. Also gentle giants. we lost our cat a couple months ago. After considering the options only one kind of cat seemed right. We picked up our Maine coon 3 weeks ago. I have never seen a cat that acts like a puppy. He is buddies with our dogs already and actually took over a spot next to our slide door to relax…it was our females Saint spot. Lol. He is a great fit for our family
  • Maine Coons are the best. They turned me from a dog person to a cat, well a Maine Coon cat, person. Beautiful, sweet, mellow, affectionate, quirky, and loyal. You won’t regret getting one.

I lost my MC a year ago and still don't know if I should get another one or never ever do this. She was just so special, so precious, so unique. I don't want to ruin my memory of her.

When my wife was a child they had a Maine Coon - she was about 5 or 6 and playing in her yard when a neighbor's German Shepard charged into the yard after her. The cat was on the porch, but when he saw what was happening she said it was like he was fired from a cannon; he tore into that Shepard and chased it for blocks before he came back to the house. I've always wanted one but they're SO expensive!

Our big, black, House Wookie, aka Maine Coon, is the only cat I’ve ever seen that rubs up against the vet’s leg and purrs when we go for an appointment. He greets everyone at the door and follows us around like a puppy. He just a big 22 lb Teddy bear. They’re the best, hands down!

My wife brought nine week old kitten home from the shelter. He definitely has a lot of Maine Coon charistics. His three favorite things to do in descending order are: being brushed, stating fights with rolls of toilet paper, getting treats every evening, and sneaking up on our much older female cat and pouncing.

Beautiful cats. But in my opinion all cats are Wonderful ❤❤❤ and deserve to be loved.

My grandma found a Maine Coone kitten in a park a long time ago and named her Honey because of her coloring. I didn't get to meet the cat until she had already grown. I was a kid when I met her and she did not like kids. She avoided me and was pretty grumpy when I found her in her secret hiding spot. She warmed up to me though. She was an indoor cat, never going outside. There was a time my grandma started looking after a stray cat and let him in a couple of times. Honey got curious of him and cornered him inadvertently. He understandably got angry and hissed at her. From that point on, she hated all animals. One day, my grandma had a terrible fall and ended up passing away in the hospital. Honey fell under our care from then on. She was the best cat I ever had. When she got into her elderly years, she found the courage to go outside for once. She fell in love and it was nearly impossible to make her come inside from the backyard. She spent her last couple of years living outside and having to get the occasional steroid shots because her lymph nodes kept swelling up. There came a time when the shots no longer worked and she was suffering. So we had to take her to the vet and had her put down. Absolutely the saddest day of my life. I hope one day to have another Maine Coon in my life.

My Maine Coon cat was as much like a dog as it was a cat. Very intelligent and mellow. Totally laid back and chill. Always interested in what I was up to. For example, he would jump on the kitchen table and watch me eat dinner. He would never try to get food off peoples plate and was a very respectful observer. If I presented a treat, he would give the morsel an evaluative sniff. Sometimes he would accept it and then jump off the table. Or he would reject it and jump off the table. His choice was often unpredictable. I grew up on a farm and we had many cats and a number of them were really great cats but none could compare with My Maine Coon cat. His only downside was shedding. He would curl up on the floor for a nap and when he got up, there would be a orange/yellow ring of fur where he was laying. A small price to pay for his beautiful coat of luxuriously long hair.

One known YouTuber bought a Maine Coon kitten. He named her after a Japanese destroyer. Of course when she grew up. She ended up more along the size of a Yamato class Battleship. Plus she makes adorable commentary and criticisms during some of his videos.

If your Maine Coon doesn't like somebody, believe the cat.
  • I currently have three MC’s. Trust me, there is never a dull moment in my house. They make wonderful companions😺😺😺

I have had 3 Maine Coons over the past 30 years. They are amazing cats. I wouldn't have any other breed.
