Bank Street sharrow in New London, CT

The Bank Street sharrow is the safest arrangement ever for bicycles, pedestrians and cars in this location. Of course if there were more room, a dedicated bike lane would be best. The short video clip is taken with a Fly6 CE rear facing camera on August 23, 2018. There was traffic in front of me and I kept about one car length behind. Speed was about 15 to 20mph. The right turn marks the end of the sharrow and the clip ends just after Union Station. They should repaint the lines on the sharrow soon and I hope it is now permanent.

  • Yes, as you know, the bike lane is now permanent (or about as permanent as a painted line on a roadway can be). I wish one of the playback choices were reverse, as that would better orient the viewer.
