A swath of dimness crosses America, and a solar eclipse.
-
I watched it from my balcony. How did animals react? The birds stopped chirping as the light started to go dim and the hound dog down the street barked for about 20 seconds. My cat beside me continued to bathe herself. It took several minutes for the light to dim and then, suddenly, the light seemed to totally disappear over about 3 seconds until everything was dark. The streetlights came on. My cat continued to bathe. The hound dog wagged his tail furiously as he sat and watched his people cheer and punch the air as the sun became completely covered. The darkness lasted for about 3 minutes and then, suddenly, the light was partly back. The birds began wake up and sing, just a few of them at first, then all of them as it got brighter. They started flying in flocks from one tree to another. It was like a second dawn. My cat continued to bathe herself. The hound dog continued to happily watch his people. Then it was full daylight again. All in all, the hound dog saw his people weren't scared so he relaxed immediately. The cat was completely unimpressed. I have no idea what the birds were thinking.

One of my favorite things about Colbert is him putting away his invisible props

I like Presidents that don't stare at a solar eclipse without protective eye ware. Vote Blue 💙

"Why don't we allow people in from Denmark." 🤦We DO allow people in from Denmark.

Pets witness strange behaviours by their owners.

My dogs definitely have a night time routine! They have their last walk of the evening, they all run to their own beds, then flip onto their backs for goodnight belly rubs, before snuggling under respective blankets (except the youngest who goes to get her stuffed pepper plushie and THEN snuggles up), and then they go to sleep. If we turn the light back on for any reason, we get accusatory glaring from all three!!
-
People traveled thousands of miles to see this eclipse, meanwhile I was lucky enough to get to see it at 100% totality from my childhood backyard!!! 🌑☀️
-
All four of our cats lined up on the sidewalk in front our house during the eclipse. And we don't even have four cats.

When will Trump realize that "nice immigrants from Denmark" will not vote Republican if they come here?

Farty-five: "My lies will blot out the sun." Dark Brandon: "Then we'll tell the truth in the shade."

"Astrid...we have to get out of Copenhagen. The furniture design is too functional"....best line ever if you know anything about Denmark and Danish design (two of my favourite topics)

My sister had an app that gave detailed steps to follow for the totality (verbally). Just before it hit, it said to observe animals for behavior changes. We all looked down at her dog, who promptly threw up. 😂

If an immigrant ran a mile in 4 minutes of darkness then they should be in the next Olympics.

Colbert was on FIRE tonight calling out the stupid AF media coverage

I don't remember the last time in my memory that the country had a positive unifying experience like today was. So much of our lives are fractured and siloed now, it's hard to think of some moment we all had the chance to share that wasn't negative, divisive, or destructive. Oh, how far we've fallen.
-
Have to say how much more bearable (and even funny ) it is to hear Stephen doing Trump instead of being subjected to a recording of the actual presence.

They missed the chance to insert Boeing and eclipse flights joke 😂 "You can see the eclipse in our planes because our windows are gone!"
