As a very long time decorative painter (I particularly love faux marble and faux bois), I find this absolutely fascinating and exquisite. Such artistry(!), in Europe, during the Baroque and Rococo periods...beyond amazing!

Considering the process involved in making Scagliola and the forms that can be made which are not really possible in stone calling it a falsehood is a misrepresentation of what goes on. All the same this is an absolutely stellar bit of work and I appreciate it immensely.

To think even back then they used "fake materials" for grand buildings, and how exquisite it turned out!

wow such a great lesson.. great video... Thank you all for sharing your knowledge.
  • It's interesting how necessity is the mother of invention, by that I mean marble is so expensive, and a alternative was created that is so like real marble, quiet amazing, so good infact you wouldn't know the difference unless you knew, or had to carrythe weight of it, genius.
