I saw The Cramps over 120 times and only a couple of bad shows. I met Lux and Ivy a number of times and they were so much fun and super nice.

Wow, I'm going to have to get David J's book. He's had such awesome experiences with so many larger than life characters. I noticed that X was on that bill as well. John Doe is supposed to be at a show in Austin this weekend and I'm so stoked to finally get to see him live. Meet John Doe was a favorite album as a teen and I love my X records. Sorry for going off topic... If David J was in awe then you know that the Cramps were truly something live.

David J is one of those folks I've always wanted to meet. Such a fascinating fellow..
  • I worked at a gas station in 1983 and one day my coworker said that these two people got gas in a crazy old car and he described what they looked like. I brought my copy of Gravest Hits to work the next day and he said that was definitely them. I had been listening to the Cramps since about 1980 and was really bummed i didn't get to meet them.

Met Ivy and Lux in LA back in ‘98….maybe the greatest moment of my life! David you should’ve spoke with her man….she was as nice as one could possibly be! I’d be nervous to talk to you as well I suppose …..Bauhaus were life changing for me right along with the Cramps! Met Peter once and was less than thrilled….not a very nice person is he? Still one of the best frontmen to ever sing a note……loved you guys man!

I’ve been into music and art most my life as an artist and a fan and the Cramps were an absolutely amazing band and some of the best shows I’ve ever been to 👍💯

LOL, I came to this video because of the Cramps, but now I feel as if I should seek out some more interviews with David J. What a great guest.
  • So, so cool. I remember watching "So Alive" on 120 Minutes in the 8th grade and being wowed. It was so catchy but didn't feel like pop. It was something different. This was a great interview. Thanks

She was a giant force of nature...so cool, even other musicians were kinda afraid. Way better story compared to the usual stuff! Bravo

Poison Ivy - look don't touch. She chose the perfect name for her persona.

David J is the ultimate fan boy genius. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Lux vomiting at Daze of Future Past, I recall he went back to the drum riser where there was a pint of milky fluid, which he necked before returning to the front of the stage to redeposit the contents. There was something of the James Brown drama about his schtick.

David J... One of the Greatest Bass players of all time!!...
  • Particularly enamored of Ivy. Aint that the truth! Lux was a charismatic front man, but Ivy was something else.
