The older I get the more I enjoy watching series like this. Being able to see glimpse of other countries & cultures is truly fascinating.

Diving and fishing is such a big part of NZ culture. We are basically all surrounded by oceans/ rivers so it's awesome seeing Gordon doing it in my back yard

Gordon: "Some chefs would gently tenderize these, but that's not how they do it here" Zane: "Wrap it up In a cloth and give it a wack with a rock" š

I really appreciate how they focus on Maori cuisine, instead of any european deviation. It is incredibly respectful of them to do so.

Growing up I spent 6 years in New Zealand. The food always seemed a tiny bit fresher/ richer and the water was almost always pure and fresh. You could drink straight from the river, even some of the lakes (though I wouldn't advise it). At school camp in the south island we hiked for hours to find a natural mountain spring, and It honestly was life changing to drink that pure, naturally chilled mountain mineral water right from the spring, especially after a tough hike.

I love how hard gordon tries to pronounce the mÄori names it makes my day

As a New Zealander born and bred in Southland, Stewart Island was just down the road... over across the very unpredictable sea a bit. On my last trip to the island, maybe 1972, we just picked a couple of paua off the rocks for lunch, without getting our feet wet. They were everywhere. The only diving was being done for magnificent crayfish/lobsters.

It's always great to see this side of Gordon. Although nothing beats watching him have a go at others, but seeing Gordan's humble side is refreshing. Top tier legend

I love seeing these out of the normal kitchen elements with Gordon.

Watching Gordon embrace new cultures is always amazing to watch

Gordon, I didn't know you'd been here, to the end of the world! I'm glad you like the kai and had a go at getting some for yourself. Your respect for our traditions, like taking only what you need, is appreciated. If no-one is greedy there's enough kai for everyone.
