The biggest compliment i can pay Marc Bolan and T Rex is that 50 years on from his peak there is literally no other artist that sounds like him, literally unique.
  • I was so lucky to have been a teenager in the 60's.The music in the 60's and the 70's was in my opinion was the best.

I lived just round the corner to this memorial for a couple of years in around 2012 and it was continuously visited by people leaving trinkets, photos, memorial messages or just paying respects. At the anniversary of his death there would be an abundance of memoribilia, flowers and items laid around. There was never a time when you felt it was getting less significant which really brought home to me the importance and love of Marc Bolan the character and his music. Living there I drove over that bridge many a time and I could see how you could easily lose control if going at some speed, especially in a small car like a mini. Marc Bolan never learned to drive since apparently, he had a fear that he would die in a car! Taken long before his time......

45 years later…”Bang a Gong” is one of my most favourite tunes. It’s strange to think that had he still been alive, he would still be younger than Mick Jagger and probably out there performing all his hits at Glastonbury as the headliner. RIP Marc.❤️
  • I adored Marc Bolan and T-Rex and was devastated when we lost him. Thanks for doing this video.

He told his parents when he was eight years old that he would be a rock star and die before the age of 30. He was prophetic in many ways. Thanks for the wonderful music Mark.

Respectfully told as always, still listening to Marc & T rex to this day, sadly missed but never forgotten

Very respectful and well presented as usual Paul. Remember Bolan's tracks played by my parents when I was young. It seemed like the sun always shined..
  • Glam rock legend gone too soon . And to think just before he died he was trying to make a comeback. Rip Marc singer song writer and poet. Thankyou Paul 👍👍

Thank you, you did a really nice job with this video. It's a lovely tribute. I think Marc would like that the crash site, despite being the scene of the tragedy - has been maintained as a beautiful place of remembrance. It isn't a sad, depressing place - it's actually serene. It's no longer the dark place where Marc died, it's now a garden in which to celebrate that he lived. If any trace of Marc's spirit still remains there, I'm sure he appreciates the care that has been put into the memorial - and all the visitors! :) I like to think he knows how much people miss him still. He had a short life, but he certainly made an impression. He is still very much loved.

Metal Guru! Pure genius. As a teenager of the 70s Marc was almost a mythical creature. I removed the centre page spread from Jackie magazine which showed Mark with his wild hair full of animals and birds. I was living in Hammersmith when Marc died, just a walk over Hammersmith Bridge. I still play Marc's music.

Been many a time, placed pictures on the tree & now the barrel. Cry every time I go & always wonder what could have happened if he was alive today. Thank you Marc for the great music you left behind.
  • Remember the Marc Bolan show, was with his friend David Bowie, this was in 1977, some of the Granada staff were on strike, and they to film quickly. While rehearsing, Marc fell off stage. I think Bowie said something which he later regretted, something about Marc's death. They had recorded some basic tracks in Bowie's hotel room, (I think)? Either way Marc was coming back into the limelight, after touring with the punk bands. He died so young R.I.P., Marc love your music, you were one of a kind!

Marc Bolan has been a big part of my life. I have many T. Rex vinyls and posters ! I’m glad this video was made so respectfully. Amazing job <3
  • @mifnp8887
He had the SWEETEST smile ever! 🥰
  • @irenemorley75
What a handsome man he was and a great singer, I remember my older brother of 15 had posters of him all over his bedroom wall, he cried so much when Marc died, it was so sad.

Love the Bowie penned 'Mop The Hoople' lyric - 'The television is crazy saying we're juvenile delinquent wrecks, but man I need a TV when I've got T. Rex'. From 'All The Young Dudes' I think. 'Cosmic Dancer' is perfection.

I was a huge fan of Marc and was devastated when the news came over the radio. I remember I was decorating my living room wall when I heard. I stopped work got a pen and wrote ... Marc Bolan died on this day 16th sept 1977 RIP Marc we loved you. We moved a few years after and often wonder what the new owners thought when they stripped that wallpaper off. I’m sure they must have been fans. So sad, he was taken far to soon. Thank you for your very respectful visit . Love your videos. 👍

As Zeus said in his comment, very respectfully done. I was not aware of the memorial so thanks for bringing it to my attention. My cousin was a huge Marc Bolan and T-Rex. Every time my brother and sister visited my Aunt and Uncle with our parents, the three of us would be ushered up to Paul’s bedroom to listen to the latest T-Rex album on his portable record player! I was never into any singer / band it that way and only ever bought one T-Rex single, ‘Metal Guru’. That aside, there is no doubt that Marc Bolan was among the greats of the 70’s music scene and like many people of the day, I was shocked to wake up to the news of Marc’s death. Had he not been tragically killed, I’m sure he would have remained a huge influence on the pop music scene for many, many years and May well have found a new audience in later life like so many icons of the 70’s have done. R.I.P. Marc Bolan.
