Love Edmonton! Best way to experience it is to live centrally. The suburbs are all pretty much the same and pretty void of anything unique to Edmonton. Surrey, Calgary, Mississauga, and Edmonton all feel the same if you live far out. But the central areas of Edmonton are truly unique and full of character! Garneau, Strathcona, Westmount, Ritchie, Oliver, Riverdale, Highlands, etc. Those sorts of neighborhoods really give you the true Edmonton experience. Living outside the henday and driving to strip malls and other suburbs all the time is definitely not how I’d recommend experiencing this city. Sadly, due to cheap cookie cutter homes in new greenfield projects, people continue to move further out, increasing our tax burden, construction/maintenance costs, and decreasing our vibrancy and community.

Visited the city this past February. It's a lovely vibe but far too busy for this bumpkin's taste. I enjoyed your video and was actually pleased that 'shopping' (aka ease of access to all scales of retail) wasn't mentioned. I'm planning a photographic tour of Alberta next summer and will be pencilling in the Heritage Festival on my way back north. Best regards from Yukon.

Nicely explained and loved watching you both in the video. I am migrating there soon so wanted to get an idea and your video definitely helped me a lot. Thanks to you both 😊

A few more pros and cons: - The city bylaw; shoveling snow and clearing ice and snow from your driveway during winter months. - You need a good and reliable 4 X 4 or all-wheel drive car/truck to drive safely on icy/snowy roads. - You need a set of snow tires with STUDS - You always need to carry your hot coffee mug anywhere you go - Windshield cracks are very common in AB - You may mentally get exhausted, once or twice a year during winter months, sun destinations are a MUST.

One reason they created very large West Edmonton Mall, is for people in Edmonton to have more fun things to do in the winter. Great video!!
  • Excellent video, greatly enhanced by your lively, fun-loving personalities! Many thanks!
  • Love the long warm days during the summer solstice the the daylight lingers till after 11:30 PM which to me, makes the summer feel longer
  • @tb6530

  • @MAYA-angelinaa
You guys!! So good!!! 🤣🤣 can't wait to see more!!
  • Thank you for making this video - I love how you both brought different and same perspectives. What was the unsafe area you mentioned and any others? We would really want to avoid those as I’m moving with my mom who is senior and will want to walk around. She’s not timid but also still want her to feel safe
  • @leinastacruz

I'm thinking about moving there from Minnesota. There are a lot of similarities between the two like the weather, parks and festivals. This got me really excited and I must say, your city and neighboring mountains to the south look stunningly gorgeous. I hope the people are indeed friendly because I plan on staying a while. Thanks for the insight!

good luck to you and your family. this video was very helpful for me because I am a vancouver person. born and raised. left in 2012 because of expenses went to toronto for 8 years same situation very expensive. so edmonton is affordable for housing and amazing for family life. at 37 i got to gear up for that so edmonton is alot better and easier financially. cheers
  • @fskaraoketv
Hey Derick you two are amazing enjoyed your videos. I’m planning to move to Canada and maybe you can share some tips on how to start living in Canada. Thanks
  • You guys cracked me up. I have family in Edmonton so I am aware ... Hallowe'en ( others from around the world will have to Goggle it ;), ... a mere 3 or 4 hour drive (to a person from Europe or the Islands will think it was amazing) ... extremely short days in winter is a con just like the longer summer days are so welcome ... I missed the mature trees when I lived in Edmonton (new construction resulted due to need for rapid houses being built) ... now I live in Fort McMurray and wish I was closer to Edmonton. It is expensive !!!!!
  • Appreciate the video guys! My wife & I are moving out there in January. I wanted to ask you what areas are best? I’ve been looking at Windermere & the surrounding area; just looking for a quiet, safe neighbourhood. Thanks!!
