  • Use both the 4" hole saw AND a 4.25" hole saw together. The 4" will fit in the existing hole and the 4.25 will cut out the .25".
  • To prevent splintering when you first start drilling, start drilling with the drill in reverse until you get a circle in the wall.
  • We have learned to either open the valve on the gray tank when using the washer , or be sure it is empty. The washer doesn't know when the tank gets full and can overflow at the drain . Even with a sensor, by the time you turn the washer off you'll be mopping .
  • I just watched your washer/dryer install. That looked like it was fun and definitely a learning experience. There is only one thing I would like to recommend. It’s not urgent but I would get a pair of stainless steel braided supply hose for the water line. I have seen rubber ones fail after time. Just a heads up. Happy trails

My wife is a ER Nurse of nearly 30 years and I am a retiring Paramedic after 45 years in Fire and EMS. You guys are my hero’s! I bought our 37’ 5th Wheel this summer. Came with the Splendid Washer and dryer. First lesson learned was don’t wash large brand new cotton blankets in RV Washer, plugged up the drain pipe. Second lesson learned; I saw someone already wrote keep grey tank open when doing wash. Absolutely one load can use as much as 30 gallons of water. You will know your grey tank is full when your shower backs up ;-). I put a drain pan under my washer Should have come with the combo as well. I would call Camping World back! The water sensor is also a great idea. Good Luck Y’all. Maybe will see you on the road!
  • @kckettridge
You guys did a great job on the install. I wouldn't worry much about the aluminum stud you drilled through. There is enough rigid foam insulation encased around it that it shouldn't be a problem. I like how Dexter showed us his "sidewalk superintendent" skills.

Another tip for using hole saws: Once the hole saw bites into the workpiece, stop drilling. Remove the hole saw from the drill and install a small 1/8 inch bit. Drill 4 holes with the 1/8 bit in the perimeter of the large circle. Just place the small bit in the grove made by the hole saw at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 9 o'clock. Drill those small holes all the way through. Next, put the large hole saw back on and complete your cut. The small holes will help prevent the hole saw from overheating, they will give waste material (dust and chips) a place to go, and they will help prevent binding. You will be amazed how much easier it is to cut a clean hole. I learned this trick years ago in my contracting business and never went back to doing it the old way. Good luck Hanks. We love you!!
  • @ajherry837
We enjoyed the install you two! We were waiting to see Dexter with the instructions…lol. The sticker is NEVER where it’s supposed to be…I think it’s put on while blindfolded. Also, don’t use silicone; use Butyl tape for a watertight seal. For your next project, you can replace the flex with a solid, insulation wrapped dryer tube. We know from experience, that flex tube will become an unwanted heat source. AJ & Melissa

You didn’t take enough out of that aluminum stud to worry about. The leg on the other side of that stud was not damaged.

My wife and I did a combo install in our motorhome last summer. The combo weighed in at 335lbs. We had to get it in the doorway (had to remove the grab bar) by sliding it up some 2x6 lumber. I then had to go and purchase a hydraulic lift table because we had to get it over 32 inches high to get past the fireplace shelf leading to the bedroom (no way we could lift it that high). The lift table only went to 30 inches so used some 4x4 and plywood. We then had to get it up to 35 inches to slide (well force)it in the top cabinet. Then had to lean over the top (only about 15 inches of room) while standing on a 3 step ladder to make the vent connection and then push everything back. First time we ended up pinching the hoses and had to take it out and do it again. Drilling the vent hole was the easy part, used a stud find to make sure there was nothing in the way. Don't forget the leg locking tabs to keep the machine from bouncing when going down the road. P.S. we are both over 70 and we will never attempt this again!

In the morning when it's cooler, take a look at the outside wall and see where the changes in condensation are, when the conditions are right you'll see the framing. Take a picture for later reference. Not for hole cutting but so you know what that horizontal frame beam is connected to. I would guess it's a stability cross member and in that case shouldn't be a big issue. Also your cut forms an arch which is a stable shape.

I've recently had many bad days, weak, sick, unable to move,. This morning I couldn't even fix myself breakfast but I started to watch this episode and within minutes I felt better. I love you guys. you're wonderful! I believe in you. If I were only younger and in better health....
  • @michaelcain1870
If you ever need to make a hole bigger when using a hole saw here's an easy fix. Get a piece of wood like 1/8 thick cut square that is bigger than the hole you need to make. Then you can either screw that piece onto the wall or use a hot glue gun to attach it temporarily over the smaller hole. You can then use the hole saw to drill the hole bigger and then remove the scrap of wood.
  • @lynnpinson4008
So sorry y'all had to through this. My husband were travel nurses before we retired. We bought a fifth wheel and I wanted a washer and dryer in the camper. Others tried to talk us out of it. It was the best thing I did.
  • @kay.hthrkc9302
As far as SMELL…..I put a 1/4c of baking soda in each load. It’s good for your clothes, helps rinse out soap, plumbing, and prevents smell. Oh and leave the door ajar as much as possible after each load. Good job you guys!
  • Not a cooler or more entertaining couple on YouTube🥰 A ❤️ for each one of you, Thanks Hanks😎🇺🇸
  • @Xflysx11
It’s nice to see there are other couples that do it like we do! Go big or go home! Nice job to you both!
  • @robertosgood961
Just make sure to have sealed all around the outside vent to prevent water wicking in around it. Love Dexter's assistance!
  • @lindabrown2211
Yikes making holes in the rig 🙀 You two are so brave. Thanks for sharing and as always wishing you three safe travels.
  • @blairM363
Hey Hanks, love ya’ll. Look for you every week. I have been looking into this combo washer myself but have been warned that it takes forever to run (that isn’t an issue for me), that it does not dry properly (although I believe that is an issue for the non-vented) And that it holds like 1 towels and one shirt (which cannot be realistic). If you could, please demonstrate the use of the washer. How much clothing (use towels or something) that washer holds at once, how long it runs per wash & dry. How dry do the clothes come out? Would appreciate any demo you can. There are only one or two others who show this. Thank you.
