I really admire your outlook on life. There are a lot of people who I'm sure would have been crushed by an experience like yours. You were able to look at it in a positive way, and I'm sure this type of outlook will make you a success no matter what you end up doing!! Thanks for sharing your experience!!

I just scheduled my audition in Chicago for February 4th and I really want to make sure I have everything prepared and have it as professional as it can be for my audition. After watching this I’ve realized that I’m not the only person who feels like this is a lot of pressure and is kind of going a little crazy while trying to make sure everything is set up perfectly. This gave me hope and calmed my nerves so thank you very much!

I can't remember how many times I watched this video. I found it on the web last year and still think you're really talented and inspiring. It was such a good speech and I truly wish you have success in the artistic world, as you deserve.

I am so proud of you. My child auditioned for Juilliard this year, so I really understand and empathize with you. Your encouragement to others speaks volumes of you.

Really cool and raw review, no sugar coating like most of the things I ve found.
  • I'm really impressed ... I imagine how stressful this audition can be and seeing you saying you did your best, and how you saved money to travel to NYC ... WOW. Reading the same page five times = totally me x) Anyway, I just wanted to say that I admire what you accomplished just by getting there and hope you'll find another art school or company which will accept you. Or if you take another chance this year, things will work !!

I love listening to you talk! I have to literally beat the crap out of my own brain and tell it to dream bigger I am worth it. Congratulations on pursuing your dreams! I am currently pursuing acting also!😆 “McAllister: “Show me the heart unfettered by foolish dreams and I’ll show you a happy man.”

Dear Amy G for some reason it won't let me reply to your message directly so I hope you see this! I just wanted to clarify something I felt that the pieces I did were not right- I felt that they didn't like what I chose/ performed (this was just my own feelings about it). There is no way to 100% know what type of piece they are looking for (or the reaction to it unless they give you feedback) because each director (or judge as i like to call them lol) has different preferences. They could have liked the speech but felt it didn't suit me, they could have heard the same pieces 5 times before me... the reasons are endless. All I can say is I think they wanted to see something lighter from me (I remember them making a comment like that) but you should always go with something that you feel good and strong in and a speech that you can really connect too because whats right for one person may be completely wrong for another one! Oh and defo choose pieces that are contrasting in tone/ emotion/ character etc... Does all that make sense?

Dear Rachel zsz, They do make all the students auditioning for the drama program sing unfortunately :( I felt exactly how u feel (I do NOT feel comfortable singing in front of anyone lmao) but they say they want to hear you sing to see how you can tell a story through a song and blahh lol. I don't think they are looking for some Whitney Houston/ Mariah Carey voice but if you are really not feeling confident- which I defo felt like last year, just get some singing lessons so you can work on some technique and sound decent in a song. I felt like I would never be able to sing in an audition, I have always avoided it but ever since I had a few singing lessons last year it gave me the confidence to whip out a VERY short song in auditions if asked haha. Hope that helps! If you live in London I can recommend a teacher to you!?!
  • what age are you if you don't mind me asking?? And honestly you are incredible your personality is amazing and I don't think you should give up Juilliard, also you should defiantly upload more monologues as I think you are very talented and I would be interested in them and would love some ideas!!

WOW. That's all i could say. Thank-you for uploading this video and sharing your experience with us. It was really very.. lol im speechless again... I've got to say, youre a very determined person with a strong will and that is a great quality! You managed to pull through and tried your best and that is very inspiring. You're an incredible person and once again, thank-you for giving me insight into what it's like to apply to such prestigious drama schools. I didnt apply this year, and thus now i'm not eligible for this coming fall 2015, but i will apply next year for 2016's acting program and hope for the best. By the way, how are you doing now?
