"The Green Promise" (1949), directed by William D. Russell, follows the Matthews family's journey after purchasing a farm. When the father sustains a serious injury, his four children are left to manage the farm. Deborah, the eldest daughter, and her younger sister Susan step up to lead the family, aided by the assistance of a charming local agricultural agent. As they navigate the challenges of running the farm and coping with their father's injury, they discover the importance of resilience, determination, and community support.

This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1963, and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed.

I downloaded this film from The Archive under public domain mark 1.0.

I used an RTX4090 with Ryzen9 CPU and 128GB RAM along with AVCLabs to upscale and colourise this movie.

I miss the days of KINDNESS, COURTESY, esteeming others more than yourself, being humble, THAT IS ALL GONE

Yes, we baby boomers are still alive to enjoy, theses movies Thank You Simon Ward 🥰😘
  • I truly enjoyed the whole movie! How refreshing to hear all our good values being woven into a beautiful life story. Stories today are so shallow and pleasure driven, they leave a viewer empty. Thank you for the movie.

I have seen this movie many times and it is always enjoyable to watch. Walter Brennan was an amazing actor and young Natalie Woods was so talented. If life in the United States could only be like this again. Raising wholesome children on healthy food we grew ourselves. This is basically how I grew up in the 1970's on a 30 acre farm in rural South Carolina.

Please be kind with the comments. I do my best and I know it’s not perfect. Each film takes between 8 and 20 hours to enhance, burning through a lot of electricity in the process. You get to watch them free and if you don’t like them, there are millions of movies you can watch on Youtube across many other channels. I work from home, a single PC doing all the work. I appreciate that you have come to the channel and hope you enjoy the movie. I know some people really don’t like colourisation and I did decide to do the entire collection in enhanced black and white (4k 60fps), Youtube removed my monetisation so I cannot earn back what I've paid out in electric and equipment. I have had no option but to remove all the black and white enhanced movies, I don't think Youtube understands the work I put into them and feel I did what other channels do, download from the archive and upload them to their channels without any work done. In the colourisation, I understand, there may be some grey ears, some of what looks like blue eyeliner on actors and some parts of colourisation that doesn’t turn out as good as I would like. I am doing my best and hope you appreciate the effort, thank you for watching :) If you have any requests, please let me know. As long as a film is in the public domain, I can enhance it in 4K and colourise it in HD.
