Chinese People Embrace Me When I Speak Chinese

I went to New York City’s MASSIVE Chinatown in Flushing, Queens to surprise people by speaking Chinese and have some really interesting and occasionally quite strange conversations. Hope you enjoy!

  • That global warming guy said he's the main character of this world 😂😂
  • @Jay-xm8mu
"I feel like your Chinese is not as good in person as in your videos" is insane hating😂
  • My man is literally the ONLY person alive that can solve global warming.. But can't learn any English here in NYC.. Honestly, sounds EXACTLY like my neighbor!
  • @ekoman2
global warming guy was literally a side quest in a video game 😭😭😭😭
  • Dude said your Chinese wasn't as good in person and then tried to hang around 😂
  • The rocking out between English, Spanish and Chinese really was a great callback and reminder to the homie Laoshu. RIP.

I love these videos where he's just out on the street. So fun to watch him run into some guy and start translating Chinese to Spanish.

I love this video because Xiaoma is approaching people while speaking Chinese from the get go. It's funny the first fifty times to see people react when he switches from English to Chinese but I've been wanting to see this kind of honest exchange for quite some time! Thanks Xiaoma! :)
  • I’m in Chinese school because of u , Laoshu and a few others .
  • boy, you really do run into some interesting characters. and all this is unlocked with language skills -- lol the global warming guy

My favorite clips is when Xiaoma switches between languages like the translation clip… just crazy how many languages he can hold a conversation in
  • I can understand this so much, at the part when they were giving discounts! Because I was shopping in HK and even though I am born in Hong Kong, I look like I am from UK and when I speak Cantonese, the people at the stores would give me discounts. Got two plush toys for 90HKD instead of 120HKD, small discount but better than nothing. Furthermore when I was in the UK and went to Chinatown to buy dumplings and my mum wanted some, I got 6 pieces for 4 pounds instead of 4, the guy was like I'll add extra because you are helping your mum and can speak good mandarin!
  • Much prefer these style of videos! Just pure IRL content basically. Not to say the other content isn't good too! Keep it up!
  • Very Impressive Ari.. switching from Mandarin to Spanish.. always fun to watch. I was in Tokyo years ago and spit sum Turkish on the street to a Turkish kebab guy and made his day. The world is a SMALL place! 😂
  • Me, as an Indian who speaks Chinese watching the Chinese teacher at 2:20 say that Indians are the fastest Chinese learners 👀🤫. Xiaoma responds with a logical explanation though: Indians are generally multilingual (especially if coming from a big city), and are exposed to multiple completely different and distinct languages at a very early age, so one is exposed to a variety of sounds, tones and grammar structures. This may be a prominent reason as to why the Chinese teacher also felt that Indians are quite good at picking up other languages (Chinese, from her example). Xiaoma was almost single-handedly responsible for me picking up Chines
