I decided to buy every type of console GameStop sells online and then try to resell them back. What I discovered about the condition and value of these "refurbished" consoles was pretty alarming. From missing serial numbers to non-functioning parts, this video exposes some major issues with GameStop's practices.

  • the fact gamestop is still in business is beyond me
  • I'm more astonished that anyone would sell their console to GameStop for these prices, than I am that anyone would buy a console from them.

former gamestop employee here, the refurbishment center is the bane of the companies existence. Ive sent back so many consoles that they say they refurbished but look like it was just tested and thrown back into a box. Also never and i mean NEVER get the refurbished controllers, its like they actively try to give them all stick drift and say "it happened during shipping"
  • GameStop is really circling the drain. I thought it was bad a decade ago but this is really embarrassing.
  • I know damn well there will be a part 2 since GameStop is now selling retro video games. But only time will tell.
  • You'll get more donating to goodwill and write it off in taxes 😅
  • The crazy part is 5 years ago I found your channel because of the buying ever console from GameStop and I haven’t missed a video since this was a great throwback to an old video

As a current GameStop employee (who has done repair for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series controllers), sometimes what is judged for good quality shifts from day to day. At least it has seemed that way in the two years I’ve been working at their refurbishment/inventory warehouse. If you wanted to reach out to me about some info let me know!

Austin is single handedly keeping gamestop afloat
  • Here is an idea for a video: buy the same consoles from eBay then sell to GameStop to see if you can turn a profit

I can tell you as a former gamestop employee (SGA) we don't get paid enough to care. 20 cents more than minimum wage as a keyholder is not enough. I often would tell people to go across the street to the retro game store as they would likely give you more than our pitiful options (someone came in with pokemon pearl in box and gamestop wanted to give $20 for it) this was, like, 2 years ago.
  • Gamestop is a fantastic company who provides value to its customers. My opinion is in no way influenced by my owning of shares in Gamestop.
  • Eww bro rare candy is such a big scam. There products rip people off there mystery boxes are shit.
  • Our local GameStop just closed it's doors.... Can't imagine they have many years left, as far as actual stores.
  • 10:35 you got absolutely robbed. You can get Xbox series s brand new for $250 all day every day.
  • 24:49 Austin you missed a chance to test out GameStop’s return process, and 29:21 it makes sense for them to be refurbing parts, but you can always say “if they don’t buy back consoles without serial numbers, they could’ve sourced these from illegal means”
