Tip from a local: if you don’t care for the boardwalk/touristy stuff, head up to Zuma beach and park along the pch (it’s free). There isn’t a lot to do, but if you just want a relaxing beach day with the kids, it’s better than Venice. Neptune’s Net and Paradise Cove Cafe are fun places to eat, or you can buy stuff from the grocery store and picnic on the beach.

I live in Venice. You can really enjoy Venice during the week, especially in the mornings.

Tips from a local: They really have significantly remedied the homeless issue in recent times (early 2022). Also, please walk Abbott Kinney Boulevard, just inland from the beach. Great small shops, coffee, and places to eat. Please also walk the Venice canals, day or night, very close to Venice beach. Very beautiful architectural homes located along canals, for which Venice gets its name!

I agree with water being cold. I went there in August and I was surprised how cold the water was at very high temperatures outside. I loved my time there.

I love watching these videos! This Easter I'm going to Spain with my family for a couple of days. This is the first time being on a plane since 2017, I miss planes so much

I love Venice Beach and don't care how many times I've gone,it's always the best time ever when I go again lol.

We were there just a couple of weeks ago during my daughter's school break. Having grown up in L.A. I knew it would be packed on a Saturday but it was beyond insane. There used to be a lot more canals in the first years of the 1900s but then oil was discovered and most of the canals were torn out although the oil boom did not last long even though you can still see some oil rigs here and there.

Just visited Venice Beach a couple of days ago. Really loved it and I would love to go there again in the future!
  • Tourist from New Zealand here. Been twice to Venice Beach, LOVE IT! Love the street art, street performers, tacky shops and the diversity. Don’t love the smell of weed but I did love getting a bit blazed for free 🤣 It was busy both times but that added to it in a good way. Great place to visit, love this place.

It might have helped that we were there during the week, but I got a chance to scratch an item off my bucket list at Venice Beach - working out at Muscle Beach for several days! It’s a pretty cool outdoor gym, I even got a picture next to one of the muscular locals who was easily twice my size… I’m a 6’2” guy!

I walked Venice beach at 3AM today. No people bothered me. I seen a cop cruiser driving the boardwalk. I went to use the portable restroom open 24 hours. I live off and on in my truck. They say Santa Monica California is more dangerous than Venice . Always praying 🙏
  • This is one of the best beaches in Southern California..the homeless will not bother you! I have been going since 1975! There is a lot of talent at this beach, magicians, cedics, artists, dancers!! You name it! It is fun, refreshing, great excercise, one tip, leave after 6:00 pm! Thrn the homeless, & other transients come out! It is their beach then! Have fun!
