In describing the meaning of the song, Daryl Hall said in an interview "That song is really about not being pushed around by big labels, managers, and agents and being told what to do, and being true to yourself creatively."

One on One has to be next. You might feel like you’re in love with someone by the time the song ends.

The best sounding recordings of the early 80s. I'll never forget my son (around age 7) hearing this in the car and asking me "What did she ask him to do?" I still laugh.
  • A fusion of disco, pop, and new wave. Truly a moment in time, captured for all time, and timelessly.

I saw them in a sold out concert in the mid 80's. They blew the roof off and had everyone on their feet. They were incredible live.

This song was so big... It hit #1 in both Pop and RnB radio. Michael Jackson liked the bassline so much, he used it in his song 'Billie Jean'. Monster hit!!

The best part is the "I--i-i-i-i-i-i-i'll do almost anything that you want me to-oo" bit. You can't get more heavenly than that.

Now back to 1973 for "She's Gone". Others may suggest "Kiss On My List" which although good is poppy and 80s, but missing out on "She's Gone" would give a less true impression of them.

"She's Gone" is a great Hall and Oates song
  • "Speaking about the meaning of the lyrics, John Oates has stated that while many listeners may assume the lyrics are about a relationship, in reality, the song, "is about the music business. That song is really about not being pushed around by big labels, managers, and agents and being told what to do, and being true to yourself creatively." Per Wiki

One on One must be next. Their best hit from this time period.

One of their best recordings. Sounds as fresh and new as it did FORTY years ago!

Daryl Hall always kills it on the ad libs on the outro. That man can flat out sing.

  • Wait For Me is a fabulously beautiful Hall & Oates number, often overlooked.
