And that boardwalk was just rebuilt this summer. I was walking on it wearing my "Free Hugs" t-shirt just 2 weeks prior to Ian's landfall. I hope everyone down there is safe now. I'll be coming back next spring for a beach trip & next summer for multiple beach days.

use to live in surfside 2 blocks from the surfside pier 13 ave n. pier has had some damage lost some of it 4 years ago:( miss the grand strand loved it

Thanks for the video. My wife and I were on vacation at Surfside and had to cut it short and get out before it hit. Just ate at that restaurant at 3:40 just 48 hours before it hit

It's going to take years, if not decades, to rebuild the dunes lost all up and down the Grand Strand from Pawley's Island to the Little River jetty.

We were there a month ago. Didn’t look like this, but the weather for a whole week was horrible. Rained the whole week.
