  • Mexico is my home and it’s been 3 years with no regrets!!! I have learned to just let life happen!! I have learned families still exist! I have learned that community is still alive and well!! I feel free, I feel peace, and I feel grateful

Greg and Kaytee are awesome for letting us into their home, so many amazing people choosing to escape and retire or live with freedom in Mexico.
  • @shahjehan
They are doing what most people dream about. Freedom, quiet and enjoying life - they discovered why Merida is special.
  • I live in Mérida, I've lived here for 1 year and it's amazing. The people are amazing and friendly. My neighbors are super respectful and I just love living here.❤💯

Oh man, these people are living the dream for sure! I am glad you're showing my beautiful Merida.
  • @canissiat
I love their home. The walls make it that much more private and surprising to see once you enter. They have bathtubs 😍 Lovely neighborhood too.

There’s the anecdote of a gringo who finds a Mexican man relaxing by a lakeshore, under a tree shade, enjoying the the lake view. Gringo introduced himself to the Mexican; asked what he was doing and what he did for a living. Mexican man told the gringo that he was a fisherman and that he earned his living with a fishing canoe. Gringo asks why he wasn’t in the water fishing. Mexican tells gringo time wasn’t good and best fishing season was only 3 months out of the year. Gringo tells Mexican he should work harder and get himself more boats and hire more fishermen. Mexican asks “why.” Gringo explains: “so you can make more money, fish more and maybe in a few more years of hard work you can make enough money to retire in this beautiful lake, sit by the lakeshore under the shades of these beautiful trees and enjoy life.” This might sound exaggerated but I know it’s a close depiction of our cultural approaches to life and living. Most Mexican get busy living and most Gringos get busy dying (quoting Shawshank Redemption).
  • This was an AWESOME video! Greg and Katie are living the dream! And you can tell they are good people. But what I noticed the most is how stress-free and relaxed they are. I’m still living a stressful life but not much longer. I can’t wait to get to Merida.
  • Those bathrooms look like a sauna's 😳 They're gigantic!
  • This is so far the best neighborhood you have shown in your videos... wide streets many Parks.. I'm envious!!!
  • You're videos are great. My wife and I are moving to Merida next month for a lot of the same reasons as these folks. We're packing now, selling stuff and getting really nervous. Your videos help! Thanks.

I've lived in Mexico and people worry about Cartels and trust me they do not bother Americans or Europeans to do so is sets a group back. Ive actually never saw them while in Mexico. The people in Mexico are so respectful and made so many friends.

Thank Greg and Kate for their hospitality allowing us to tour their lovely home. Hope we didn't bug their cat while we watch the video. Thanks.
  • great episode. i love that they mentioned that they specifically chose a non-expat neighborhood and life. it's a pleasant surprise from other retirement interviewees who emphasize expat neighborhood as a requirement. i know it's a personal preference, but it's cool to see it. because it's also how i'd prefer to live; among the people of the country. now-- just need to convince my husband that it's a great country choice.
