WARNING: This video isn’t intended for kids, it’s meant for teens and adults who grew up with TrainsFormers.

On a very special Wak's World video, Wakster looks at James Farr and his pet project TrainsFormers, in a history video that seeks to see if there's more to this than meets the eye! Is this nostalgic webseries worth talking about in the context of the modern Thomas fandom? Let's find out and get wacky!

  • I was actually personal friends with Vector for a few months on discord. I went from a casual fan to someone he called an actual friend. I had my own problems at the time, and I broke their trust (which I regret and I have learned from my mistakes) but they were pretty selfish and seemed to have pretty strict household rules enforced by their father (who I also talked to a few times). growing up watching these animations (mario, Thomas, ect) was fun and I would have never thought I'd actually get to be friends with one of the major players involved at any point ever... not bragging btw of course. one thing that lead to me getting to know them was how down to earth I was and how I wouldn't just fanboy and bother them at a constant. I knew how to treat them like a human being. overall though, depsite being a bit self-absorbed (at the time!!!), Vector is a good kid and a good guy. Vector, if you see this, I'm "MadMan". lol

"Massive copyright infringement issues" they seriously predicted it.

Friendly reminder that the animator behind Trainsformers also did a retelling of Ghostbusters and the Star Wars trilogy with Nintendo characters

As a kid, I just rolled with the "fun police" and thought they were just random off-screen character we just had to deal with now. NEVER would I have thought it was because of HIT taking down videos. Thank god they got them back on the platform again, because this series was a comfort watch of mine, even though I was a huge transformers guy back than.
  • Trainsformers is definitely a very unique and fascinating series; two iconic and legendary franchises morphed into one, epic crossover. Speaking of crossovers, another fascinating series created by the Thomas fandom, one that you mentioned before, is The Railways of Crotoonia. It's not just Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, it's a whole multiverse with many different characters (locomotives, mainly) from many different movies, short films, and TV series. You should do a video about that series, as I would love to see one.

Those are one of my childhood favorite videos cause Thomas and Transformers are part of my childhood as well!
  • Damn do I remember watching this all those years ago. I wonder how it’s aged by now.
  • You are not a real Thomas/Transformers fan if you never watched this series

Fun fact: James Farr (the creator of the trainsformers series) would later go on to become one of the animators for Transformers: Rescue Bots, which kinda shows how far he came as an animator, which honestly going from making a Transformers parody series to making an official Transformers series, which I’m just realising rescue bots does kind of have the same sort of style as Trainsformers the more I think about it. But for real I absolutely loved watching these videos as kid coming from a fan who is both a fan of Thomas The Tank Engine and Transformers, seeing something like this just blew my mind when I first saw it as a kid.

I must say that you're not the only one who got introduced to Transformers by Trainsformers. I always liked this show, so simple and yet so charming in concept. Just the thought of Thomas becoming a Giant Robot is interesting, and James Farr executed it damm well. I always have some kind of false hope, that in an Anniversary Event of either of the IP's, an official OpThomas Prime toy comes out. Next year is the 80th Thomas Anniversary, hell, imagine if Mattel and Hasbro teamed up and release it, now that would be Prime.

I grew up with robot trains but I have seen this before
  • As an aspiring animator, Trainsformers and the rest of James Farr’s videos and his history is truly inspiring. Super excited to see what will unfold in the seventh Trainsformers instalment!

The fan mashup may feel inconceivable to a type of Thomas fan who may insist the franchise must adhere to realism and All Engines Go is a unforgivable travesty, but kids don’t care about that, Thomas and Transformers are imaginatively mashed, and it comes back around to being awesome for most everyone.
  • As someone who loves Thomas The Tank Engine and Transformers, this parody series is a dream come true! I wish more Thomas parodies were light-hearted and fun like Trainsformers. Though I'm surprised no one has talked about or parodied Engie Benjy, as it's a fun show with a lot of charm. Also, Ant and Dec voice Engie Benjy himself [Dec], Jollop [Ant], and Benjy's cousin Trucker Troy [Ant]. I wish Engie Benjy had more love. Though I am glad Mattel didn't get their greedy hands on the series.
