"I've never gotten in trouble for going above and beyond for the customer." That is a guy I would want to work for my company for sure. What a great attitude.
  • I just watched an RV utuber who was in Alaska and drove through a construction zone and bent the trailer tongue and the dealership, the manufacturer, Lipert, nobody would help him. They all said he took it off road and his Kestone warranty and extended warranty was void. He swears he didn't. Bottom line nobody including Lipert helped this guy and also said it was his fault he had a weight distribution hitch attached and I think the Lipert frames on the bigger trailers are too weak. Makes no sense to use the same Guage steal on a 20-24 ft on a 30-40 ft.
  • This guy is good. I do think that the frame material is far too light on RVs in an attempt to keep the weight down. Rough roads, construction etc are all part of the adventure. Lippert needs to design frames with the proper gauge metal to handle it. This is a safety issue. Frames should not be bending or cracking, period!!
  • @leskobrandon538
I've taken older RVs off-road on dirt roads that a Camry could drive on.... Never cracked a frame... The fact is these new frames are too dam weak and being pushed to the limits just sitting in a parking lot...
  • @shaunotoole561
That tech man knows is stuff, you definitely got blessed by getting him as your tech for this. Amazing job thank you for all the knowledge
  • My 5th wheel has Lippert components. I have an issue with the wearing of the front right tandem tire. I contacted Lippert and with information I supplied they diagnosed a bent axel. Lippert shipped me a new axel and no charge and all the instructions to change the axel. Lippert is a top quality company in my book. Thank you Lippert and BTRBRV.
  • You let them off the hook. I love how you try to move the blame to the owner.
  • @icare7151
I am a huge non slide out fan. From gas to Diesel class A, C, B and towable, for 45 years never a slide thus never a slide problem.

My 2014 Redwood came with the now discontinued LCI Tri Glide pin box, one that had several internal grease fittings. After checking the Redwood owners forum, I discovered several owners of this pin box reported pre-mature failures of the Tri Glide model. My fifth wheel was out of warranty, but when I contacted LCI expressing my concern with the Tri Glide pin box, and they sent me free of charge, a new lower jaw that converted that Tri Glide pin box to the Trail Air model. Very good customer service.

So, you damage your brand new RV driving thru a construction site, where the road was torn up so new roads can be laid down. You damage your suspension due to this construction, and are forced to ask the manufacturer for warranty repairs. You tell the manufacturer what happened, then the next thing you know, your $7,000 warranty claim is denied because the manufacturer says that you went "off roading" with your RV. This is the sad truth to how manufacturers think and work in today's World
  • @jimboler4541
About 15 minutes in, they start talking about how the manufacturer builds the unit. Here's my position on this frame failure issue. If I buy a new RV, I bought the entire system from (Forest River, Grand Design, etc.). I didn't buy the Lippert frame and then have some other company build the cabin. I bought the whole thing as a system. I expect the manufacturer (Forest River, Grand Design, etc.) to provide the warranty for the whole thing. I don't care who made the frame. The manufacturer is the one who bought the frame and they are responsible if it fails. The RV (all of it) will be subject to the same road conditions as the tow vehicle and it should be able to withstand the construction zone, pot-holes, rail road crossings and all other every-day problems without failure. Don't leave me stranded while you try to figure out who pays for the repair. If it is clearly a warranty issue, just fix it. You can bill the frame/window/refrigerator manufacturer separately. You're the one who built and sold this piece of garbage...
  • Great video! No windshield talk, nearly no Hand Jive and very useful!!! More of this format please. Follow this guy around for a week of repair videos and you got an entirely new segment worthy of massive subscribers for sure.
  • @danharris5873
Screw lippert, had to get rid of a perfectly good fifth wheel because the frame was cracked and bulging! And I babied the fifth wheel! Couldn't be repaired had to salvage a perfectly good 5th wheel $30,000
  • @NativeSon60
If I had a business, this guy is the template for the kind of employee you want to hire. I worked in Automotive Repair for years and I had the same attitude making the repairs.
  • @goalie2998
This guy is a real straight shooter. I can certainly appreciate that. I hope his company appreciates his hard work and his integrity. Kudos to you Mat
  • While humans are not perfect saying RVs are made by people who make mistakes is just an excuse for poor quality. Would you accept RV quality with a new $50,000 car? No way. This is because they take the mistakes out with good quality systems and error proofed designs. Testing and validation of RVs during development is non existent. Do they ever run a rough road durability test? I would like to see somebody take a new towable RV to the Navistar (Studebaker) proving grounds in South Bend IN and run it on their rough road durability test track. It would be a pile of rubble in short order.
  • 30 years ago me and some friends went hunting in a 10/15 year old camper. We drove it through creeks where there were no roads and up the mountain side with no issues at all. I was amazed at where we went with it.Winnebago was an incredible incredible vehicle. I don’t know about now though?
  • I've been in industrial equipment maintenance for over 30 years and I completely agree with Matt. I talk to the operator as much as possible to get the background on what happened, what didn't happen, and what they think maybe should have happened. They make my job so much easier and quicker to get the equipment back into production by taking care of most of the detective work for me. Yes, some times they fear a write up, but if I feel they are honest with me, I've told more than one supervisor, my job is to fix the problem, not the blame. This type of job is almost ways dealing with a hostile person. They may not realize that we didn't cause this issue, but we represent the source of frustration. We are there to actually help them get moving again. Matt, you should realize you are the hero in this story, even if you can't fix the issue, you do get them to someone that can. His company needs to realize, Matt is their ambassador to a hostile country, and after listening to him, I'll bet my next paycheck, he leaves their customers still loyal to their products. Thanks for being out there Matt, and thanks for the video. In my approaching retirement, I am considering getting an RV. Some of the stories you see are quite disturbing, knowing there are Matt's out there is reassuring. Thanks again BTBRV!

The folks assembling rv's are pushed hard to complete their tasks The rv company CEO's only care about how fast it can be built Also the assemblers are not skilled Labor
