Tropical Storm Debby's Remains Bring Flooding Rains To Central Pennsylvania

Published 2024-08-10
This is a quick video I captured of Hurricane Debby's remains, not even now a tropical storm, just a regular storm, dumping rain here in Pennsylvania. Here we got 3 inches of rain, or 8 centimeters of rain, overnight from it. While that is quite a lot, there were fears of a catastrophic flood. Some viewers might be underwhelmed by the vlog, finding it "boring" that Debby didn't cause us a lot of death and devastation, but you know what? Sometimes boring is good. Boring is always good when it comes to weather unless you happen to be a storm chaser or weather reporter. Boring means that no lives were lost and there was no widespread property destruction. Remember, these videos you see of weather events aren't movies, these are people's lives being affected by the destructive power of storms. Sure, it looks cool, I'll admit it, it looks so cool when a hurricane rips a pier off or blows apart a beach. But at the same time, it's not a movie. It's important that we remember that when we watch the videos of things happening. There's an aftermath not seen in the movies.

That said, I hope you enjoyed this "boring" vlog of Debby not destroying us. I know I'm glad it was a big nothingburger.

  • Please try to watch the entire video and think about what I said in the end. I know many of my videos are long but this is only three minutes long so it won't be too bad. And please try to comment something related to the video, I make these videos to be watched. If you're not fluent in English, please comment in your native language and I will translate it and reply in English. Also, please be sure when you like the video to press the like button under the video not the one under your comment, otherwise it won't count. Anyways, with that out of the way I'm curious if you got hit by a storm recently, and what it was like. We've had a very dry summer so this was a bit of a relief however it arriving too fast actually kind of backfired. PS: Some people wonder why there are more comments than views. There aren't. YouTube counts not just comments but all replies as individual comments. I certainly don't rewatch my own video for every comment I reply to. So if you say 200 views, 223 comments, there's probably really only 90 comments plus my replies and conversations. That's still a lot of comments for views, though, I know. So here's another reason, my videos don't go out to the algorithm much, and my viewers are vocal and like to comment. Here's why the algorithm doesn't like my videos, I don't do cheesy clickbait (mouth open shocked face red arrow thumbnail, "I almost died (not clickbait)" titles, flashy loud overedited videos full of fluff with little content), so most of my views come from subscribers except for a few breakthrough videos. My videos had a comparatively better reach back in 2019 despite getting less views than now

Debby has not been kind. Here in South Calif we dont have much big flooding but sometimes the fires and a possible major earthquake can be scary. Glad this event was boring cuz we don't like the alternative! ...πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–Cheers! IcloneFunπŸ€—

Well, if they would have told you the truth on the news you wouldn't have had a reason to keep checking it lol πŸ˜… I'm glad you all didn't get flooded out. If you got that 6 inches of rain and it looks like that your living in some great infrastructure.
