We converted our HiLow WRXs to E85 fuel to see if more expensive means more better.

"This transmission days are numbered" says James after blowing 5 engines.

im really happy you guys included the mistake of not plugging in the battery when you could have easily have edited it out. It goes to show that even dudes who do this for a living can have small things get over looked. Such a good series guys.

I’m loving how Donut is revisiting their past HiLow projects! Really highlights how cars can be never ending stories.
  • I just wanna thank yall at Donut for furthering my interest in cars, and making me seriously consider a career in mechanics

Yesssss. I'm so glad HiLow is back I love this show almost as much as money pit.
  • I stumbled on this channel by accident. I don't drive anything cool. And, the only wrenching I do is my oil changes. I love these guys. This is my new favorite thing. James is hilarious, Zach and Jerry always teach me cool stuff and Nolan is absolutely adorable. HiLow is such a great series. Especially liked the Tacos.

I do appreciate that you’re actually showing them working on the cars to some extent again and talking about the problems that come with it. It makes it much more entertaining
  • When disconnecting fuel lines, you can pull the fuel pump fuse and let it die to reduce line pressure👍

Day 398 of asking James to do an Up to Speed on his Dad
  • A good note to add is that the ideal Air:Fuel ratio (stoich) for e85 is 9.8 vs gasoline's 14.7:1. So for the same amount of air moving through the engine you want at least 50% more fuel injected just to not be lean..This means larger injectors are required to hit the same power number as gasoline at the top end. There is also a decent power gain from the additional fuel pulling a lot more heat from the intake air to evaporate, like water/methanol injection.

Love the diagrams you guys create e.g. fuel stability. Quick glance and super easy to understand what you're talking about. Whoever creates these deserves a pat on the back. Excellent content.

It makes me so happy to see James wrenching. I remember when he was to worried about doing something wrong to try to help out but as we all learn, doing something wrong is better than doing nothing

On a serious note, safety glasses when dealing with a fuel system really are important! I've had petrol in my eyes before and it IS NOT a pleasant experience. It stings like HELL!

Brazil knows everything about ethanol SINCE THE 70'S. My grandpa had magazines teaching how to convert hard gasoline engines into alcohol drinkers: cut the the heads (compression ratio goes literally to eleven, anyone?), put parts resistant to water corrosion (because ethanol decays into water), change timings, spark plugs, distributors, pumps, carbs, (HEY, CARBURETORS BACK THEN, REMEMBER THOSE?) and all the shenanigans to make it happen.

So happy Hi/low is back, only difference is this time I can use your guys videos to add the mods onto my 06 STI, absolutely love the Hawkeye! Looking forward for the next video!
  • If you using a file around sensitive areas like a gas tank that you dont want metal shavings Put a strong magnetic 🧲 on the file to catch the shavings

Love the high/low series, it's some of the best stuff Donut puts out, but I do miss my B2Bs. Love watching everything y'all put out when I come home from work :D

Here in Brazil, alcohol fuel (from sugar cane) has been widely used for almost 40 years and for good times, mainly by those who want more power, where the combustion of engines is cooler, better stoichiometry, better compression ratio and adjustment in In general, even high-octane gasoline is less polluting.
