Rachel wanted to build a bookcase, so we built one together. Nice to have help.
Filming with help doesn't quite go as planned as filming alone.

The design of this one is very similar to one I built two years earlier:

She did great, especially working with Wandel branded tools.

Rachel is such a gem. It was good to see you two work together on a project again.

Imagine being in shop class with Matthias as your teacher. Plus you're being filmed filmed for 1.7M people to watch. Well done Rachel.

It’s been quite some time since she’s been in a wood working video! Welcome back Rachel 🎉

Two thumbs up for Rachel. This was a good reminder to all of us that we need to be patient and understanding with new wood workers so that their initial experiences will be positive ones.. Thanks for including her in this video.

I'm glad you two could work together on camera. Congrats. The bookshelf looks fantastic. Great job Rachel

As someone with, at best, marginally more experience than Rachel when it comes to woodworking, this reminded me how hard the craft really is for amateurs like us. Little things you don't even think about Matthias will elude our intuition. It ends up becoming a cycle where I don't do woodworking very often because I don't have the knack, but I also don't get the knack because I don't do it very often.
  • Love seeing you two work together. And your right, seeing things from a novice's perspective is very instructional in ways an expert couldn't anticipate
  • You guys are so lucky to have each other to do awesome woodworking together. Rachel you are one lucky woman to have him helping you learn the way wood works. And Matthias you are lucky to have such a smart and talented Rachel to teach. What a great team. Thank you both for showing people how woodworking partners can really shine together. That router trick for the back panel rebate is pretty handy.
  • Great job, Rachel. I see no one has explained to you that traditionally projects aren't finished until the maker leaps on top of the finished piece. Now there really is a challenge for you!

Nicely done. I'm amazed that the kids weren't popping in to see what Mom and Dad were doing. Thanks for sharing.

This is excellent content. There is nothing better for teaching newbies than videos of a master teaching a newbie. 👍👍
  • Love when you do projects with Rachel. She is so charming! Great work Rachel!

Rachel ,you did a great job! Don't be worried about cutting off too little on a shelf , remember you can always cut more off, hard to add more back on! Mathias, be great to see how you made that last long drilling jig, especially getting the holes perfectly even all the way along! Keep these coming ! :)

Good job Rachel. You learned several good safety lessons, some equipment lessons and some new skills. And believe me when I say, it's not easy having the resident expert watching over your shoulder.....along with tens of thousands others, some of whom can be the most critical people on the planet. The shelf unit turned out very nice. Ya done good.
