I’m able to load 350 pound 1946 Harley-Davidson WR 45” racer & 198 pound Northstar 20-gallon portable air compressor, into the high bed of my 1937 Chevy truck, using UltraTow 110v portable winch & folding ramps from ‪@Northern_Tool‬ . Headed to Daytona Bike Week for Sons of Speed vintage outlaw motorcycle racing.

Handy set up! Another good tip I've found watching your videos. Since downsizing, happens with age, my work area is much smaller. Always looking for useable tools & equipment like this that is easy to store when not in use, avoid clutter. Your videos provide an in use look which is very helpful. Thanks 👍🏼

Don't think I've ever heard of a portable winch before. Thanks for another great video. Always enjoy watching. Wish I lived close to your shop so i could stop by sometime.

Get yourself some synthetic winch cable for an ATV (I think it's Kevlar). I did that with a Warn portable winch, and it about tripled the line capacity, plus it doesn't scratch stuff and doesn't fray or get stuff greasy. I think I went from 15' of steel cable to 45' of synthetic, with higher load capacity as well. Amazing stuff, barely bigger than paracord.

You got one of the baddest shop trucks man. You should put a swing out arm on it kinda like a engine lift, so all you do hook up the winch lift the bike an swing it in.🤷🏼‍♂️cool idea for the low bikes that belly catch.

I would look into a removable gantry crane for your truck if you want to load alone, the winch is nice, but once you get a little older, you might want to not have to deal with the ramps. The gantry mounts are flat when the crane isn’t mounted, so the truck bed will be completely usable. I think Northern Tool carries them as well. I had one a few years ago when I was buying and selling big air compressors, made life safer and simpler. 👍

Thanks for sharing Billy. I had wondered how that was done. Great truck restore 👍

Late to the game, but picked up my tickets to the Tennessee Jam. Gonna be a good day.

Coool truck ! I have to use long ramps to key bikes from high centering. With the winch I could probably pull past that point. Maybe even add a roller. Usually takes a couple friends to help load my bigger bikes. I’m considering something in the line of biker rescue gig .

Nice, but I'd be getting a swing Boom and just boom it in while I'm safely on the ground.
