Affordable iPad alternative for drawing beginners - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

Published 2022-11-02
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is, in my opinion, still the best standalone drawing tablet for digital art beginners on a budget. Right now it's being priced as low as $230 by some retailers.

EDIT: This year, Samsung announced the 2024 refresh of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. This costs closer to $300-320 which I still think is a good price, but also, the 2020 version will do perfectly well for a beginner.

If you are a beginner getting started out with digital drawing and painting, then I'd definitely recommend this tablet. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is affordable and offers everything you'd need for learning digital art.

The model used in this review is the 2020 version, but look out for the Tab S6 Lite 2022 model with the Snapdragon chip inside if you decide to buy a new one.

Good review! I picked up one of these only a few days ago and am currently looking around for accesories. I'm curious what model / brand that tablet holder you're using is (at 3:26) and if you'd recommend it, I have trouble deciding on one

Thank you! I am gonna buy a tablet next month for digital art and was jumping between the s6 lite and the ipad 9, the ipad is a bit out of budget and was wondering if the s6 lite would do it for me, I heard the TFT screen is a bit of a let down but tbh it seems fine to me, so perhaps I'll go for it, thanks again!
  • Thank you for this great review. Using the S6 Lite as a Display Tablet with EasyCanva it will work correctly? Or would be better buying a XP PEN, HUION or a Wacom Cintiq to use directly on Windows?

Hey bro, nice content. What about the performance when working with higher canvas size + many layers? I know we can't expert to handle too much, but I usually work with 3000px drawings and wanted to know if it would lag! Thanks in advance
  • Hello, I have been doing 2d animations for some time and I want to step up my game by buying this tablet. I just wanted to ask if one can do frame by frame animation on it (has it got enogh storage)? Loved the review by the way.
