Las Salinas, Fuerteventura - Storm - April 2022

BEHIND THE SCENES....

Some rough video for weather enthusiasts and gear heads! From the Las Salinas cliffs, a little insight into extreme weather events in Fuerteventura and a bit of behind-the-scenes test footage leading up to Episode 5.

Steve tries some of the HomeInFuerteventura.TV camera gear in the challenging conditions of the recent calima we had on the island, with surprising results! What are your conclusions?
No colour correction or enhancements. Volume levels evened up and the sound compressed slightly.

Our favourite gear for these tough windy conditions:

- LUMIX GH5II with 30mm-60mm lens.
- Røde Wireless Go II mic setup
Also tested:
- iPhone 11 Pro (front facing and rear facing)
- Røde VideoMicro mounted on LUMIX camera shoe and fitted with “dead cat” windshield. Plugged into the mic in on the LUMIX.
Steve’s gear review summary:
None of these were bad, except maybe the built-in mic on the iPhone outside - but it was very windy! Surprised that the VideoMicro (which is actually designed to handle wind) was bested by the tiny Wireless Go mic.
Probably could have done with a low-cut on the bass with the VideoMicro setup to filter out some of the noise.
What do you think?
