Who is Herobrine? nah fam we almost in 2021. **HOW is Herobrine?**
  • I played creative for 4 years because I was scared of herobrine and I tought cave noises was herobrine
  • He scared me as a kid yet I was so interested in his existence. Now I love Herobrine. He's forever a part of our childhood.
  • I actually quit Minecraft because I was scared I’d find Herobrine. Every cave sound I heard resulted in me deleting the world. Because of Minecraft’s eerie atmosphere when you first start the game, I still to this day swear I see something lurking within the trees. Maybe one day Mojang will remove Herobrine; he keeps adding himself back in our thoughts and childhood trauma.

“Herobrine” Minecraft Veterans: “Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a very long time.”

Hero brine went from being actually scary to being on clickbaity X-rated monster school videos.
  • @4zy1
I never saw the original iteration of Herobrine as evil, just someone (or something) that watches from the fog with curiosity.

It's been 12 years and yet Herobrine still terrifies me. I can't explain why. I'm a fully grown adult and this niche video game creepypasta from my childhood still freaks me out....
  • @cd9997
imagine you have a dead brother and your fans start making creepy pasta about him in your game.
  • @altonix2512
Herobrine was our childhood nightmare. But now he's an old friend.

Herobrine is like an old ghost story that’s passed down from generation to generation of players. My girlfriend’s brother is younger than the legend of Herobrine; he’s about 10. At one point I spent a whole day setting up a prank where in a realm, I put signs around his base, took leaves off of his trees, and renamed a zombie to Herobrine. Cue me jumping into the pit containing the zombie with no gear over and over again, showing a death message of “Lavinia was slain by Herobrine”. Kinda freaked him out. He started fortifying his base. I think it’s a fun story. A cryptid that most adults know isn’t truly real, but we tell children the stories anyway, because it’s a fun tale to tell.

I recently wrote a story about Herobrine and what I believe to be his lore mixed in with the ancient builders, and it won first prize in the young Georgia authors writing competition.

Minecraft certainly used to have a more creepier feel to it in the early days. I assumed Herobrine was fake, because the "reports" of seeing him seemed fabricated to me, but it always still sorta creeped me out that maybe there could possibly be something to it. Especially considering - as mentioned - things were more glitchy back then.

I think Herobrine is the best way to attest how terrifying Minecraft could be back in the alpha. This is all reinforced by how uninviting Minecraft actually was on its visual presentation. I know it was limited in all its capabilities as it was pretty much one guy or a fistful at best, but in every way the game just hits with very odd vibes as if not even the textures fit with each other. The grass for example having a more yellow-ish color as if it had dried up and withered, a mostly empty world and an ominous fog that only reminds me of Silent Hill. All of these things always gave the impression that something was very, very wrong, and Herobrine embodied that perfectly as one always would have the feeling of being observed.
  • I remeber watching hero brine sightings as a kid and trying to build a shrine Those were simpler times
  • @smellthel
Imagine if he was in a lost version of Minecraft

11:35 "you thought I was gonna jumpscare you, didn't ya?" holy shit that prediction was even scarier than a jumpscare
