Rone - Bye Bye Macadam (Official Video)

According to Dimitri Stankowicz and Rone, this video is meant to depict a shaman cult worshipping the birth and eventual death of a star (hence the title Bye Bye Macadam) by performing ceremonies involving the forces of nature (such as lightning) displaying the stages of the star's life. More broadly it's the worshipping of the cosmos.

I'd just like to say a quick thanks to the Energy Ladies who keep the whole universe humming along.

Years later and this is still one of my favorite songs. Watching the video always makes me think "It's the creation of the universe."

Re visiting this song 5 years later. I used to listen to it every day to cope with serious social anxiety disorder and depression. I forget how it used to make me feel. With how much has changed since then, listening to this is like looking through a window into my past. Meeting the love of my life, leaving my toxic best friend, finding ugly truths, losing myself and finding myself again, my life and world is the most screwed-up it has ever been, but somehow my mind is in the clearest state that has ever been in.

Between this, Lone Digger, Jenny, Shelter, and The Gorillaz's stuff, I think that all music videos should be animated. Sure, it takes a lot of work, but... Look at this. Animation + music is freaking gorgeous & I don't think there's enough of it.

I only heard this a week ago but it's part of my essential set now. Changes my state of mind... masterpiece.

The almost ritualistic dance to the moon is steeped in occultism, but the way its combined with quantum visuals, black holes, the warping of space time and other chaotic forces is astonishing and beautiful. It felt deeply right, as if our connection to the forces of nature is truly where spirituality comes from. It is something only felt, not spoken.

This is the kind of art I can watch over and over again, and find something new in it every time. For now, it makes me think of the cosmos, electro-magnetic fields, connections, communication, evolution, and so much more. It's amazing!
