The Nevada man and gang member accused of helping orchestrate the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur has secured the funds to post bail. Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who is affiliated with the South Side Compton Crips, received the money needed to get out of jail ahead of his November trial from music manager “Wack 100,” also known as “Cash Jones.” Davis appeared in court Tuesday to fight for his release after being bankrolled by the record executive. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks it down.

Tupac Shakur was gunned down in September 1996 after attending a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. The rapper’s entourage got into an altercation with members of the Southside Crips at the MGM hotel. When Suge Knight, CEO of Death Row Records, left with Shakur, they were ambushed by a car of four male suspects. Davis has allegedly championed his role in Tupac’s murder in the past few years, leading to an extensive investigation into his claims. Davis’ home was raided in July 2023. He was arrested in September 2023 and charged with murder.
