Big Boy presents “50 Years of Hip-Hop” — a three-part documentary series celebrating the 50th anniversary of a genre that started in the Bronx and grew into a cultural phenomenon spread across the world. Episode One covers the rise of Eazy E, the formation of N.W.A., and the gangster rap era of the 80’s / 90’s. Dr. Dre and Warren G speak on the rise of Snoop Dogg — sharing stories behind iconic tracks like Deep Cover, Nuthin’ But a “G” Thang, and The Chronic album. Warren G and Snoop remember working with the former CEO of Death-Row Records, Suge Knight. “50 Years of Hip Hop” also explores the rise of Tupac Shakur, his famous beef with Biggie Smalls, and his tragic murder in 1996. Marlon Wayans, E-40, and Snoop Dogg recall their finals moments with the west-coast rapper. Plus, boxing champion Mike Tyson speaks on Tupac’s legacy. Warran G's story is the most inspirational. He's the architect of the G FUNK ERA. He was a SUPERSTAR when I was a kid. The way he carved out a way for himself by hitting that drum machine, and them records makes him HIP HOP ROYALTY.
  • This man touched a lot of people’s hearts. I can see it in their faces and even in their voices as they speak about him.

Warren G is the unsung hero in these stories. He got the bad end of the stick as far as the death row inclusion but was able to turn it into something even more incredible than I think he would have had he just signed with DR

PAC is my all-time fav artist & I am from East Europe (Romania), born in '91. All my childhood I listened to thousands of hours of West Coast hip-hop and I consider these fine gentlemen my idols & because of them I am a white dude loving the black culture & hating any kind of discrimination. THIS is how BIG their influence was! Their music shaped my values 4 life!!

Snoop got me in tears, that story from his mouth is heart wrenching. I remember how all these events impacted me as an adolescent and maybe that is why this entire video is so powerful to me, but it feels like its more than that. great documentary cant wait for next chapter.
