From the VHS cover:
"Celebrated international flautist, Sir Manuel Camargue, is found drowned in an icy lake in the grounds of his home. Everyone believes his death is a tragic accident, but Wexford becomes suspicious when Camargue's fiancee Dinah claims that his long-lost daughter, Natalie, who returned to see her father shortly before his death, was an impostor.

  • This series is so incredibly amazingly shot, throughout, ON LOCATION, wherever it is taking place. All the interiors-- INCREDIBLE!!! no staging, just a slice of life as it is then. I can watch them a million more times just to watch the scenes and scenery.
  • This was the first time I have ever watched an Inspector Wexford. I am a big Inspector Morse, Lewis and Endeavor fan, so no surprise I now have yet another Inspector mystery series to enjoy !! Thank you!!!
  • Love the "feel" of this show -- the two police gently sharing a joke, disagreeing just as gently; Wexford's excitement about being in L.A., taking pictures of the Hollywood sign; the eccentric tics of the characters and the naturalness of pets. What a great discovery - thank's so much Paul Goddard!
  • Brilliant even though I sometimes have a difficult time keeping up with all the plot and character changes. Discovered Inspector Wexford last year (2021) and have watched of the episodes since that time. Really like how we never see the gore or violence portrayed like other detective suspense stories.

Rossano Brazzi!!! If he were a handsome man, now he is one of the most handsome mature men in the world. And a very good actor, indeed. From Uruguay thanks for posting.
  • I’m enjoying this new series. I like the fact the inspector and Sargent get along. He treats him as an equal. Will be watching more of this series.

I realized I’ve seen it before. Still going to watch it. Love Wexford, Morse, Endeavor, Touch of Frost, George Gently, Inspector Lewis and Vera. All FABULOUS SERIES!

Rosanno Brazzi--amongst the world's most handsome and charming men...My mother had a crush on him (I'm 74). The actress who played Natalie's aunt--MAGNIFICENT! What a face! What an actress! This whole episode is a masterpiece. Every character is a work unto itself--even the waiter in the African restaurant. I'm going to watch it again, and maybe again.

Saw most of the Ruth Rendell Mysteries many years back and am delighted to discover them again. THANK YOU for bringing them back. Now I'm reading the book with each episode concurrently and since the series follows the books so well it makes for a more complete experience. Rendell is a remarkable writer and the regular cast of the Wexford tv series certainly do her justice. Thank you again Paul.

Oh, I absolutely can't thank you enough, Mr Goddard. Waited patiently for another Wexford episode since the last one. Cheers, stay safe where you are!

Another excellent episode. Inspector Wexford was a wonderful detective, but what an irritable man. His wife must have had endless patience to tolerate his moodiness and grumpy behaviour.

Thank you much Paul. Was hoping someone would upload another episode. I love these British mysteries.

I concur with all those mentioned below... brilliant productions, unique characters, orderly murders with very little violent mayhem, clear, clever dialogue and very few nude young things being savaged. Satisfies us all with hours of mannered murder.

  • I couldn’t imagine my sister lending her violin out to a random stranger!
