From the VHS cover:
"Detective Chief Inspector Reg Wexford thinks that the disappearance of Rodney Williams is nothing more serious than a case of a wayward husband, who has run off with another woman. But when his body is discovered, buried in a wood, Wexford realises he has another case of murder to solve. ..."

The sound is a little muffled to begin with but hopefully clear enough for you to hear, this often happens with VHS tapes compared with DVD and Blu-ray.

I only have to hear the theme tune and it takes me back to England in front of the fire in the winter...me putting the kettle on, my husband saying..."Hurry up Luv , it's about to start." I live in the Andes now and my husband died recently so watching this is bittersweet but very welcome.
  • What fascinates me about this show is the variety of people that the police meet, some so dear, others so strange! The casting is great, thank you sooo much for making these available, very generous of you!
  • I am on a long crawl around youtube of British police shows, there always seems to be something excellent ahead. From Vera to Z cars, Softy Softly, Maigret (done slightly weirdly) and now here. My favourite actor in this series is.... the countryside, the English green. Thankyou for posting, they give a lot of pleasure.
  • I 'm Canadian no have always loved the British detective shows it brings me back to when I was younger and bringing up my family. Today the Quality is not the same I'm so great full I was young back 30 yrs ago I think life was better in everything then it is now. Progress doesn't make everything wonderful 🙂
  • Seen all of these I'm sure, but going to enjoy re-watching this episode. One of the many BBC shows I wish they had made many more episodes of! I'm from the US but prefer BBC TV shows.

Got really creepy at the end so I had to force myself to watch but glad I managed - thanks for this episode

The slight "muffled' sound is nothing at all, not when it's DCI Reg! Thanks for another beauty Paul. You're the best!
  • Thank you for these wonderful gems. They sure don't make them like this these days!

Hi Paul thank you for all the Wexford's I remember seeing them on Australian TV in the early 90's to find them on your channel is such a gift.

Hooked on mystery series. So happy I found this particular program. It may not have the modern forensic procedures that most t.v series of this genre have these days but it still is interesting! Thank you for the upload Mr. G.!

I Love this series, and so delighted to find another GREAT English Mystery Series, The English make the Very Best Shows, plus we have the advantage of seeing the beautiful homes, gardens, Pubs, Towns, and scenery, as well as GREAT Acting …Than You Again …From the U.S.A. 🙏❤️🇺🇸
  • I first saw George Baker on Little Lord Fauntleroy. We only watched VHS growing up. Recently I saw him in an episode of Midsomer Murders. Now I find out he has his own TV Show?!! I’m so stoked. Subscribed for sure. Thank you so much for converting the material and posting it online so we can all enjoy it. A wonderful experience.

I'm a boomer in the US, and I NEVER heard of this series. However, it is great! My only wish is, the episodes could have been put in order of series 1 episode 1 and so on. Other than that, I really love British mysteries. Characters are so well developed as opposed to US mysteries that are, for the most part, very shallow in character, and therefore also in plot.
  • Many , many thanks Paul for listing this episode! Everyday I look forward to watching at least one episode. It is so funny to see how police procedures have changed in such a short time. I'm usually calling out "Finger prints! Don't touch!" "DNA!" No gloves worn by the police when handling items. I love how a cup of tea is offered, even in a situation where a medical doctor would say not to eat or drink anything. The person taken to the police station is allowed to sit in the back seat of an un-fenced (Not sure what the gate is called) Such a lovely place to live in that it is not necessary! I'm looking forward to watching the travel videos that you have.
