Riding two bikes that don't fit - Tiny Bike Big Bike

If you’re in between sizes on mountain bikes and are trying to choose which to go with, this video will not help you at all. However I can provide a little advice. A larger bike will tend to give you the sensation of sitting “inside” the bike. This can be both confidence inspiring and more stable. If you like the feeling of sitting on top of the bike, and being able to throw it around and play on it, going smaller might be the ticket. I personally prefer smaller.

What we’re doing today is strangely consistent with the above sentiment. On the size XL Canyon Neuron I tested, I was indeed a lot more stable and confident. On the 14” Prevelo toddler bike I was most definitely sitting way up on top.

Canyon Neuron 5 bit.ly/45DYglU
Considering this bike has a dropper post, Rockshox front and rear, and excellent styling for under $2000, I think it’s a no brainer for someone of any size. Keep in mind, it’s not just available in XL 🤣

I’m slightly embarrassed to say that I’ve ridden this bike several times, and it’ll be what my daughter rides very soon. Need I say more?

I’m pretty sure Seth rode that kids bike down that trail faster than I could on my properly sized MTB.

Ok, but genuinly, if you are between 2 sizes: - Choose the smaller one if you like to jib around and have a fun and manuverable bike, both in the air and with tires on the ground. - Choose the larger one if your priority is speed on the trail or racing. It will give you more stability and overall be the faster bike in the large majority of trails. HAVE FUN WITH YOUR NEW BIKE!

I think this is really a testament to how good a rider Seth really is! Impressive honestly.
  • @kekebnvideos
Seeing Seth absolutely shred on the prevelo is exactly what I wanted to see for so lang and just what I needed today. Thanks!

Now I know why used balance and toddler bikes are always in such bad condition. The parents are riding them😜

We learned today that Seth will try and kill himself for our entertainment….thanx Seth….glad you are still alive!!
  • Watching Seth send it on the toddler's bike down the rock garden was hilarious.
  • @goantares
The fact that he actually rode that trail on that kids bike is impressive! I’m almost 6’5 and barely stay upright on my XL bike!!
  • How is this not on the main channel??? So funny, caught myself laughing so may times during the video. Not only that but had me nervous and relieved for you when you did it. Keep up the amazing work Seth. So excited to see what happens in the years to come.

Self preservation is clearly not one of your life’s goals! 😀

Bike sizes always seem pretty close together but then from a small to XL the difference is crazy.
  • Seth! As someone who is 6'4" and rides a XXL frame, I appreciate you putting the Canyon out there for us taller riders. I had a terrible time finding a bike that I was comfortable riding, and didn't break the bank. Great video as always!
  • @noelwiebe1996
You should’ve put good pedals on the prevelo probably would’ve inspired more confidence
  • I like to size down. More fun and more comfortable. I'm 6' so the bike shops usually put me on XL bikes but those bigger bikes just wear me out. Although they can be faster and more confidence inspiring, I'm not racing or trying to set strava times so smaller bikes are the way to go for me.

Mate, impressive stuff considering that you have already done a collarbone. Can't believe that the cranks and pedals held up on that small bike.
  • @stuffbenlikes
You should start a small bike racing league cuz it was awesome watching you ride that.

I'm 6'1" and when I bought my first "proper" mountain bike I got an XL. HUGE MISTAKE. My experience was the same as yours, having no ability to lean back and being scared on even small declines. It made me think that since becoming a full grown man I'd somehow lost the ability to ride the way I could as a teenager. So for years I didn't own any bike until recently when I decided to buy a cheap medium downhill bike to tool around my farm on and it all came rushing back. All the skills are still there, I just needed a smaller size because my legs are short. Height means nothing.
  • Commenters: "hey can we have a real serious discussion about this issue?" Seth: "lol no. Tini bike" Love it
  • @ec63580
I just recently started mountain biking, and it gives me a new appreciation for how good Seth’s body positioning and bike handling skills are, if he can ride those ridiculous bikes so well!
