was going to buy a 128gb 3rd gen for the thread support for my LED lights, but after finding out the 2nd gen 32gb has thread support, for a much cheaper price, tempted to go with that instead.

I literally have and use all 3 on 3 different tvs in my home and frankly my second Gen with Ethernet is the best in my experience

The best review on YouTube you just saved me money bro not worth upgrading cuz me I do not play games on the Apple TV I use my consoles. Will be getting the 2nd generation for money saving.

Can I use the same cables from my 2nd gen to the 3rd gen so I don’t have to run new wires through the wall again?

The gen2 works with the HomePods and the stereo audio?

new Processor, keeps things quick. Thread Support that All smart home users need. HDR10+ support for anyone using a Samsung TV USB C on remote, finally. Not sure if you have the 2021 model it would be a "must have" upgrade, but this interface is way better than most TV UI's and faster than ALL TV UI's. The games are basically iPhone games and can be great if you have kids. If you have the old 2017 version, this is well worth the upgrade. Saving $20 bucks for the cheaper model is dumb. just pay the $20 and get all the features.

If you strip both models down and have a look inside you will see the huge cost cutting excesise that Apple have undertaken here you can see the Gen 3 looks considerably cheaper is terms of build quality and so rduced production costs, gone is the metal clam shell design and we also loose the fan the Gen2 is a far better design than the Gen 3, in terms of performance there is no real differences although omitting the ethernet port on the lower model may cause connection issues when streaming 4k HDR content

I bought my Gen 3 back in July and it came with the lightning cable, HDMI, and has an ethernet port, but maybe bc I'm in America it may be different.
