Audio recordings obtained by CBS News reveal that two years prior to the shooting of Sonya Massey in her Springfield, Illinois home, deputy Sean Grayson was reprimanded for putting false information in his police reports. He was then working for the Logan County (Ill.) Sheriff’s office. "If we can't trust what you say and what you see, we can't have you in our uniform," a supervisor can be heard saying. Grayson, who was a deputy with the Sangamon County sheriff's department when Massey was killed, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges. His attorney declined to comment.

  • For context: 20 months prior he was reprimanded for putting false information in his police reports. No surprise there. On Sonya’s final night, he told his superior “she said I rebuke you in the name of Jesus ! And came at me with boiling water.— that’s what all this is..” He left out the part where he shouted he’d sh**t her in the face, drew his g*n on her and she threw her ands up (with no pot!) and started apologizing and cowering down onto the floor. That’s lying. Omitting those details is lying. 🤥. And to those of you who say she threw the pot: THAT WAS self defense. Not what he did.

The guy speaking to him knew he was a time bomb waiting to happen.

The SYSTEM is broken and its NOT in the people favor. As we are divided we will not agree to even basic reform and this officer is able to go to another department up the road.
  • So, even after all this...he CONTINUED to have the badge and the gun. Along with the attitude, hair trigger temper and the anger issues? And Ms. Massey, disoriented and upset, started by saying, "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.." Did Grayson not even realize at that moment - he was in a situation with a mentally fragile person which needed to DE escalate and finesse this? Nope, instead he blew the woman away.

NO cop should be able to get another job as a cop anywhere in this country if you have been fired or you quit and have any sort of past on the job record that involves civil rights violations, lawsuits, use of force complaints or any sort of misconduct.  We need a national data base, and all agencies must run every applicant through that data base prior to employment… There is no excuse not too. Also there must be more civilian oversight concerning the hiring process and management of all police departments, it should not be allowed to exist in a vacuum of corruption. You have cops investigating cops for misconduct with the DA patting them on the back… that has to stop.

He murdered that poor woman plain & simple! True being a cop is a tough job, but Jesus Christ Man, Do You Have Any Feelings or Humanity in you at all? I believe he's a stone hearted killer! He enjoys this part of the job! Notice was O hesitation & he did threaten 2 shoot her in the face? He did not lie about this!
  • This man should NOT have been allowed to carry a badge! Whoever kept hiring him didn't give a damn, and now an innocent woman is dead and he's going to PRISON!!!!

Corruption notice: Hiring officers without integrity that broke the law on the job.
  • @Neicy_T
So he clearly was already eligible for being fired again as the Sheriff stated, "This is termination!" But yet, somehow, he was still able to remain not only at the department but also in the field. Those supervisors need to be punished as well and investigated. Smdh

There's no way i wold ever hire a guy like this. He should not been allowed to have a gun.

No person with a dishonorable discharge for serious offenses from the military should ever be even considered for donning the badge of honor and trust as a law enforcement officer. I can’t believe this even has to be stated. It should have been a disqualifying factor from the start. Period.
  • @dedratate924
He’s a compulsive liar! That’s why that sergeant questioning his integrity!
  • @dunnkenny
So why does he get to be a cop if you dont trust him...
